i was reading the preview of tonights game on NBA.com and came up on this comment from stephon: "This kid is so far gone," point guard Stephon Marbury said following the game at Minnesota. "You talk about Yao Ming. I wouldn't take Yao Ming over that kid ever, 7-6 or not. It's not even close." its like he thinks amare is a king. im mean amare is going to be a superstar but to say him and yao aren't even close! thats just straight out dyck riding. there will be another amare-type player but you won't find many 7-6 players with the skills that yao has. just hope yao read that and goes crazy tonight againts the suns
You have to understand Marbury & why he loves Amare so much...he can really relate to those that peak @ 21.
It's his opinion. I'm sure you guys think the same thing about Yao over Stoudamire. And right now Amare is playnig better. p.s. I would rather have Yao
You can make an arguement that Amare is playing better, but you also have to look at the facts. He's getting more mins, he's getting the ball (something we're not doing) and he's not getting the respect Yao does. When he gets double/triple teamed and still gets similar numbers as Yao then I'll say he's playing better.
Marbury finishes all his statements with, "it's not even close." "Mama, I'm bringing my laundry over this weekend. It's not even close."
I think you guys need to remember the context in which that stament was said. First off he said that in the locker room just after a 38 point game by Amare, against Minnesota, a team he really has no love for. Secondly Amare is a big reason the Suns are having success right now, most pundits didnt even have them in the top 25 when the season started. I dont think he was hating on Yao Ming at all. Like someone said, it was just his opinion.
<blockquote><hr><i>Originally quoted by JuanValdez</i> Marbury finishes all his statements with, "it's not even close." "Mama, I'm bringing my laundry over this weekend. It's not even close."<hr></blockquote>LOL and after he gets the laundry back. "Mama, that laundry is still so far gone. I'm too good for my own britches. It's not even close."
I think Marbury only rememberes when he crossed him I dont think he remembers that Yao out played Amare the first time.
MSNBC Asked to compare the 20-year-old Stoudemire to Garnett at the same age, Marbury said, “It’s not even close. He doesn’t even compare to Amare. Two different people. It’s like Michael Jordan and Mario Elie.” Yeah he sure likes to say "it's not even close".
Well expect Marbury to score 20+ because Francis can't play DEFENSE for beans. We better win this game for the sake of YAO. If we lose (even if yao has good stats), everyone will consider Amare the better player. I hope our team can stick together for this one.
C'mon, show some mercy to Marbury. He's already suffered being called " The guy Nets traded to get Jason Kidd" . That's pretty close though.
