I forget the site that Bima prefers, but I see them as:
    Howard ~$19.4M
    Davis ~$6.3M
    Richardson ~$5.4
    Duhon ~$3.3M

    ==>$34.4M

Edit: didn't notice Quentin Richardson. Apologies, I had not been seeing him as a likely dump. He's $2.6M

Who cares if you give up assets if the assets are trash? Teams have been fleeced plenty of times...

We could be getting a top 3 player for Carl Landry, Rafer Alston, Chase Budinger, and by losing out in a hopeless season anyway

I know it was only summer league, but our 4 new draft picks (including Dmo) showed they are not trash.

As to, "Teams have been fleeced," well, why should we necessarily join them?

I meant us fleecing another team, like LA getting Pau for Kwame and throw-in Marc Gasol

    Why are you adding Davis?

You need to keep enough "assets" so Dwight can "win now". Otherwise, any chance of him happily signing an extension evaporate.

And if Morey was willing to go "all in", a deal would have been announced weeks ago.

Why in the world would Morey go "all in" now as opposed to right before camp? Waiting till camp would give him more time to try and get Orlando to take a lesser deal.

That's true, but when you look at the other side of the spectrum, that is also less time to put a team around him that would make him think about staying.

We will if (when) we get Dwight, morey might only be offering one rookie,
and one first rd pick at this point (which would bethe TOR.) pick, but Howard's
stock drops daily, and I promise we are not taking on all those players, it'll
end up Jrich, duhon, maybe Davis (doubt it), I'm thinking Turk...espesh if we
only give them "one rookie"-Morey isn't going to let them unload everything
all their bad assets for a rentable Howard, it's just not happening now...
    Draft night maybe, now no

Yeah but he'd still have time. The Rockets with Howard even after giving up a few assets would be a pretty good team, albeit not a contending one. He'd probably have all the way until the trade deadline to nab another star.

Ummmm.....you think morey is going to sit on his hands once he lands Howard, or if, I should say, lol morey is 5 steps ahead in thinking, with or without, Howard

Cool. I'll believe it when it happens. Because plan A, plan B and so on rarely happen the way they're intended in this league.

I think I'd rather give up rookies than take on bad contracts.

Why wait for that when we can get the false sense of entitlement now for nothing?

So out of curiosity, all of you guys who think the rookies will be all-stars and we should just attempt to build through the draft. How many years do you think it's going to take for us to become a championship contender? And how many rookies/2nd year players will we have on our roster next year?

My thinking is they should look to add a vet or two(Bynum?) next season through free agency. Use the picks we have, no matter where they might be, to draft very good two way(good defensively/offensively)players to put around our new big 4. SG, SF are the two positions that will probably need players then.
IMO, we have a very good young team. In the near future(i'm talking 3-4 years), this team will be an absolute match-up nightmare in the league.
