After their win over France (2-1), they are one step away from being the only team in history to win the World Cup and Olympic Gold consecutively.

Japan will play the winner of USA & Canada on Thursday.

The final match in the world cup was one of the best soccer games I've ever seen.

Amen. There's one thing about women's soccer - it's the pure game, no flops or any of that crap.

Watched the 2nd half of the game. The France women team had so many chances. They looked really good out there (not "looks" wise but you know what I mean).

The passing, the runs, the crosses... They were really good.

Yea..their biggest chance to equalize came with the penalty kick, but they blew it. Japanese goalie Fukumoto made some really nice saves though. Commentators were saying how she didn't allow the ball to be rebounded for more scoring chances.

Then again, Miyama had a GREAT look at the 90th minute. She was more or less a one man fast break but she hit the goal post. Would've made it 3-1 and really put it out of reach.

Depends on how you look at it. The U.S. won the Olympics in 1996 and the World Cup in 1999, so they did it consecutively.
