I am a very big fan on dark cinema. I was wondering if anyone else shared similar interest in this particular category of movies and what your favorites are?

    My short list of favorites:

    Mulloland Drive
    Donnie Darko
    Blade Runner
    2001 Space Odyssey
    Clockwork Orange
    Memento

One I just saw recently and highly recommend is "The Midnight Express" it was recently re-released on DVD as a 20 year reunion, I'd never seen it and thought it was a very good story about a man who gets busted trying to smuggle hashish across the Turkish border. He is subsequently sentenced to life in a Turkish prison. Some particularly strong performances turned in by the main character, his father, and Randy Quaid as a fellow prisoner. 8.5 stars!!!

It's the story of MacBeth, set in 1975 in a fast food restaurant.

Does the newsradio chick get nekkid? Looks like it's worth a look anyway but I've always had a thing for Maura Tierney.

I like Stanley Kubrick's movies (The Shining, Full metal jacket, ect.)...It seems all of his work is "dark" in majority.

Surely the most painful movie to watch ever. Truly brilliant.....though I haven't mustered the strength to watch more than twice.

Probably second in painful to watch: Breaking the waves.

Another one, but probably too twisted on acid to register with everyone: Naked Lunch.
