Is this Possible? Not sure but i do know we need a legitimate power forward, I think Eddie is doing great but I would like to have somone like Brian Grant who can bang down low and take up space and basically just hustle and rebound. I like Mo but lets face it....He will never be the same, Achilles injuries are the worst, Just ask P. Ewing and D. wilkins. They were never the same players after the injuries and Collier is to me just worthless, We have no need for three 7 footers. Let me know if i am wrong. Pro Yao Ming!!!!!
Throw in Mooch and it works... Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (6.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 18.5 minutes) PG Moochie Norris (4.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.7 apg in 19.2 minutes) PF Jason Collier (3.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 10.7 minutes) Houston receives: PF Brian Grant (10.1 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.2 minutes) Change in team outlook: -4.1 ppg, +2.4 rpg, and -2.2 apg. Miami trades: PF Brian Grant (10.1 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.2 minutes) Miami receives: PF Maurice Taylor (6.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24 games) PG Moochie Norris (4.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.7 apg in 36 games) PF Jason Collier (3.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 6 games) Change in team outlook: +4.1 ppg, -2.4 rpg, and +2.2 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Miami being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Miami had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Maybe we could also throw in a 2 round pick, Our team would be pretty stacked. Its just a pipe dream but it would be pretty cool if it happened.
You'd give up Cato and have Collier become our backup center? And I'd take Mobley over Jones. Anyways, hasn't the Grant/Jones trade already been discussed? Back to the original idea of Collier and MoT for Grant, I can't see much reason for the Heat to do that, even if we throw in Mooch. It WOULD be nice to get Grant for those players, but I still have faith that MoT will be of some use to us and Grant is really getting on in years.
Actually, Brian Grant would be the backup C and backup PF. Now that I think of it, he makes too much for that.
I realize he has a big contract but so does Mo and unlike Mo....Grant doesnt take 15-17 foot jumpers like our Power forwards continue to do. I just dont see him bouncing back from his achilles injury, I see him as a grant hill giving us 1 good game out of 4 because of it bothering him. Why dont we give up the farm for Tim Duncan? He will be a free agent, Lets do the Mark cuban thing and forget about luxury tax. Sounds dumb but look at Dallas and how they are playing.
I would love to pry Zach Randolph away from the Blazers or Troy Murphy from the Warriors. Since that won't be possible, the Rockets might think about a hometown lad, Alton Ford. He's 6-9 and 275 lbs. and knows he will never supplant Griffin. I think he would be a very capable backup if Mo Taylor's injuries are career-threatening.
