What is it about Eric Wedge that you like so much?

Ken Rosenthal just reported on Fox that John Farrel has a clause in his contract that prohibits him from seeking a managerial position outside of the Red Sox until after next season and that the Red Sox have no intention of letting him out of that clause.

Heck, make them all player-coaches. Ausmus and Biggio probably wouldn't have been much worse than our production this year at 2B and C, and Bags couldn't possibly hit for a crappier average off the bench than Erstad's .195.

Bill Spiers could turn this team around.

It looks like Fredi Gonzalez is on the way out according to Richie Justice and Jon Hyeman from SI on his Twitter account so Stros may get to pick from a nice list of good managers.

    Wedge
    Gonzalez
    Acta
    Randolph

    and new guys like

    Bogar
    Clark

But what scares me is that I keep hearing Fregosi's name pop up...

Really? We already had to go through a couple of seasons of Cooper sucking it up, is Dave Duncan really the answer?

Now, this might seem a little out of left field, but I just got a facebook message from a recent insider Twitter "tweet" and it appears, just bear with me now, Dave Duncan has emerged as a dark horse candidate for the job. That I'm on board with!

Larry Bowa. They need someone with that kind of fire, someone who would get in a player's face for lack of hustle and someone who wont sit back when they are playing like crap.

did you seriously just compare cooper's accomplishments to duncan's??

duncan has been 2nd hand man to larussa for eons now. i have very little doubt:

    1. he knows how to handle a staff as well as anyone in the game, if not better....that plus managing a bullpen is job one for a manager, in my view;

    2. under larussa for that long, he likely learned a thing or 2 about being a competent manager.

    based on what?

i'd lean more towards an instructional type guy....because i doubt seriously the guys i'd wanting him screaming at will be here very long, anyway.

Good point. I didnt think about it from that perspective. IF the new manager has a young roster, then I a agree with you, a Jimmy Williams type would be the best fit.
