like your thread title says...it's a WEEKLY ranking. So Yao had an off week, these rankings don't mean he won't win rookie of the year ;) Althought Amare had a monster game against Duncan tonight (so Yao isn't the only rookie to have a monster game against TD anymore)...and unless Yao lights up Amare tomorrow or Shaq on Friday, Yao probably won't get #1 on the rookie weekly rankings on nba.com for this week either (or next week or whenever they rank this week).

It doesn't mean much. It's just something to see how each rookie does each week. I mean, last week, an NBDL player who was cut by the hawks, was ranked 10 because he had a good week...even though he was cut! :D

what do you expect? i don't think teams are defending stoudamire and butler the way they do yao. opponents basically taylor their defense to stop yao b/c they know the rest of the rox can't do much except jack up bricks.

    Uh... Oh...
Yao vs the rest of Rox team. :D :p

Anyway... I am not happy since Amare has been there for three weeks in a row. It's time for Yao to step up!!!

This kind of ranking really encourages players to look for their stats rather than play team ball.

I don't know if you've noticed...but stoudemire is just as every bit as talented as yao. The guy is a monster on the boards and man...can he ever get up. I like that dunk he had tonight against the Spurs...took off at the dotted line without any running start and just massacred the rim. I'd take Yao over Amare any day, but people need to stop talking like Yao is the only rookie making any noise. If Yao doesn't watch his back...Amare might win ROY. It's not like he plays on a horrible team like Butler or Wagner. I'd be shocked if Yao doesn't win ROY though...but I'm just saying, stoudemire will command just as many double teams as Yao, or else he will just dunk on everyone ;)

But I thought Amare's play is not selfish and Suns plays team ball better than Rockets, no?

If it were chosen today...it would most likely be co-ROY. I think that's how it might be at the end of the season too.
