I'm very unaware of the right to discriminate based on sexual orientation.

The military was filled with homosexuals. Was their treatment fair? No. You shouldn't have to hide who you are.

Adoption isn't fair regardless. Adoption agencies discriminate on anything and everything.

They can get married. I've known gays that have been married. I actually know some that don't want it legalized (I can only assume they don't want to marry their long-term partners).

 

Why shouldn't two people that love each other have the same right as anybody else?

Gay sex does not equal bestiality or polygamy. Gay sex does not result in birth defects. Gay sex isn't illegal in most places in this country. It's based on the same normal rules of attraction that you have for another person of the opposite sex. It is normal and consistent trait in the history of humanity. It is who they are sexually and that is that. Denying people to have the same freedom as you do is wrong and unamerican. Why should it matter if two people have a penis and vagina to share or two vaginas? Why do you care if they want to live together and make a bond based on love to each other? What is your problem with that? Because your religion says so?

You sit here and talk about how gov't should stay out of people's lives - and yet the truth is you want it on your terms. You want it in the lives of people who are different from you.

You want people who are gay to be treated differently by gov't. Because they are a threat to you in some fashion - why else would you wish for it? Hey, that's the same rationale used to keep blacks off the bus or not drinking from the same water fountain.

IT IS THE EXACT SAME THING.

To be against gay unions is to be afraid of gays. That's the bottom line. Question is what is your fear based on?

 

My rationale is that it is not a government's job to certify relationships. homosexual or heterosexual.

Sex is irrelevant. People can marry and not have sex. IF denying people the same freedom as you is wrong, then you must support polygamous marriages and marriages between humans and dogs. Don't want to deny these people the same rights as you or else you are apparently a bigot. Also government recognized marriage is not a 'right', that makes no sense. Do you know what the word 'right' means?

within the next decade or two same sex MARRIAGE will be completely legal in the united states. homosexuality and gay marriages will become overwhelmingly accepted, except for the weirdos here and there who squawk about it from time to time. chik fil a's new leaders will follow the trend of most churches in america and will soften their stance. the issue will fade away as younger generations accept that teh gayz really aren't much different from themselves.

chik fil a and all their supporters will have a different stance in a few years. book it.

I never want to interrupt a good Batman Jones meltdown, but I would like to pop in here and say that when I ordered breakfast this morning at Chick-fil-A, a black person served me, and a black person was standing behind me in line. They both must be really stupid in your opinion, huh?

Let me repeat something -- the patriots that marched for civil rights decades ago did not march a single step/yard/mile for a man to marry a man. No way. Gay marriage is NOT a civil right -- heck, Obama even agrees with that. What an insult to the civil rights movement to compare the two! And I know for a FACT that denying good Christian Americans their freedom of speech is not advancing civil rights.

By this logic heterosexual marriage should be banned too. A dog can not enter into a legal contract first of all, that's why a dog can't get married. Marriage/civil union from the state is a legal contract - something that requires two human beings. Polygamy can be used to question heterosexual unions in the same exact way.

I could argue - why let a black person and a white person get married. You might as well allow dog and a person to get married too.

Maybe it shouldn't be. But Polygamy and Gay Marriage are not comparable any more than a Heterosexual Marriage and Polygamy is.

 

I am against government recognizing marriages. So are most conservatives and libertarians. It is completely counter to the American way 'to each his own' .

 

It was somebody elses comparison, but your post indicated to me that you view one wrong but not the other.
