Sale closed today for over $1 billion. Randy Lerner sells the Browns to Jimmy Halsam. Per Adam Schefter.
Hopefully the new owner will continue the great tradition of sucking that the Browns are renowned for. I still dislike Bernie Kosar.
NFL teams are revenue generating machines thanks to the tv deals that get split. Whether they win or lose, it is impossible to lose money owning an NFL team for the foreseeable future.
Jags were $760M, not that surprising the Browns would get more. BTW, Forbes last year valued the Browns at $977M (Jags were at $725M), so pretty in line with that.
The Forbes numbers are only estimates and they do not account for the new television deals that are about to drop.
Estimated operating income (not even final net income, which would be less), so they weren't super profitable, but given their revenues being in line with the other teams, I don't think it is a permanent problem.
As someone who lives in Cleveland, this is no surprise. The Browns sell out all their games and also sell a lot of merchandise. Cleveland teams have some of the biggest fans in the country, despite sucking.

If big bro of Case was destined for greatness, UT would've passed him up sure. No good pro QBs come from Austin. Margrave
