Man, I was watching a little General Hospital, and it was a comercial. They had a little thing during a little news snippet update, and they mentioned the rodeo and who is performing. Link There is the link. I wanted the tradition of 80s band going, and I don't mean ZZ Top. I want to see the new wave, 80s band at the Rodeo. LL Cool J and Ashanti is pretty good, just because it's different. I rather see Enrique than Julio.
Too bad the search function is disabled, or somebody could pull up the classic "Houston livestock show an animal cruelty festival" thread...That's always good for a little BBS nostalgia. My wife and mother-in-law are already dragging me to Brooks & Dunn and Alabama, and I'll probably get roped into seeing Keith Urban, also... oh well, at least the smoked turkey legs are good...
ZZ Top was AWESOME last year. If you're but a wee young sprout, you probably only remember their MTV stuff, but they put out some excellent blues/rock when they were younger. Why doesn't Dusty Hill ever sit behind Bill and Calvin anymore. He gave up some sweet tickets.
Absolutely, but (as in all rodeo shows) the acoustics sucked. I hear it should be much better this year and just judging by my season tix for football, the sightlines will be much better as well. I wonder if on really nice days/nights if they will open the roof.
I've been to the rodeo two times. The first time I went to the rodeo I saw Roy Rogers and Dale evans. The second time I went to the rodeo I saw the Jackson 5(Michael was black back then) and I haven't been back since.
Rip, we must be in the same relative age bracket (old). I saw Roy and Dale at the rodeo as a kid also. Not sure how long ago it was (30 or more years) but I remember he had a glittery red rose on the back of his shirt. As a kid I loved watching the old Roy Rogers movies on Saturdays.
Maybe this helps: Roy Rogers & Dale Evans - 1950, '52, '57, '60, '68, '69, '72 Jackson Five - 1973, '74
Yes Rashmon, I'm part of the over 40 crowd. As pole points out in his ever so helpful post, its been quite a few years since Roy and Dale performed at the Rodeo.
Crappy entertainment lineup this year. The only act I would even think about seeing would be ZZ Top, but I've already seen them a dozen times. Last year, with Bob Dylan being there, was awesome. I'll probably skip it this year.
