It doesn't matter if he's a SG or not. I wouldn't give him the max contract because he is not a franchise player. If the Rockets have a chance to sign a big star player that happens to be a SG and the Rockets already have a decent-good SG on board then it would make more sense. Just because a team is doing well at a position doesn't mean they can't upgrade it. Lets say the Rockets still had Lowry and Dragic but they have a chance to sign Deron Williams, then that's a no brainer because its an upgrade at that position and you can always trade the player you're going to replace to fill your need afterwards. Just because the Rockets are lacking a center doesn't mean they can't find ways to upgrade other positions if a good center isn't available. A lot of people here are so desperate for a center that some are willing to throw big money for average centers. If a very good center is available to be sign by the Rockets then that will be a win win situation but you have to keep an open mind to always upgrading other positions even if that position is stacked. I think having patience will prevent mistakes that will hurt your team in the future. The Rockets don't really have a center right now aside from Asik but at least they are not desperate enough to throw in everything just for Dwight Howard.

Is he overrated, yea slightly but he can create his own shot, create for his team, get to the rim and he's still young. If Eric Gordon can get a max deal, you better believe harden will.
