C - Omar Asik: 23 minutes PF - Patrick Patterson: 25 minutes SF - Chandler Parsons: 33 minutes SG - Kevin Martin: 32 minutes PG - Jeremy Lin: 35 minutes Jeremy Lamb: 23 minutes (31 minutes, if KM is traded) (SG/SF) Donatas Motiejunas: 26 minutes (PF/C) Terrence Jones: 15 minutes (SF/PF) Gary Forbes: 10 minutes (17 minutes, if KM is traded) Shaun Livingston: 15 minutes (PG/SG) Royce White: Limited minutes Jajuan Johnson: Limited minutes Marcus Morris: Limited minutes Scott Machado: Limited minutes Josh Harrellson: Limited minutes
Martin: 8728 career points Lin: 588 career points This isn't a knock against Lin, but we might want to give it time before anointing Lin as our best guy.
Martin Expiring contract... plays no D.... no point keeping or playing him... he wont be resigned...so trade his white/black behind
Jeremy Lin- 37 (Not a lot of point guard depth) Kevin Martin- 34 (Veteran and scorer) Chandler Parsons- 36 (Coach's favorite, defensive specialist) Patrick Patterson- 30 (Veteran) Omer Asik- 32 (7-footer) Donatas Motiejunas- 18 (ROY candidate) Jeremy Lamb- 17 (ROY candidate) Terrence Jones- 13 (Versatile, athletic big) Toney Douglas- 8 (Not a lot of point guard depth) Royce White- 7 (Will struggle in McHale's system) Gary Forbes- 5 (Back-up Small Forward) Sean Livingston- 3 (Not a lot of point guard depth) Marcus Morris Greg Smith <Fill in for injuries, in and out of D-League Scott Machado
Hope so, but I don't see how we have room unless we make a big trade. We have 16 guaranteed contracts as is.
Your right he isn't our best player. But you are mistaken on this point. In his last seven games he averaged per 36 18 & 8. According to ESPN stats info Only two other pg's averaged similar numbers in that stretch CP3 and Parker. Not saying Lin is elite but he definitely wasn't average. But you are right Lin isn't the best player on the team.
with this team (especially if kevin martin gets traded) i think it is really up in the air. i wouldn't be surprised at all if marcus morris would be starting at some point or first off the bench. or any scenario you can realistically come up with.
To START the year, assuming no major trades....i went the 15 man roster... Lin (32)/Douglas (10)/Machado (6) KMart (32) / Lamb (16) Parsons (34) / MMo (10) / Forbes (4) PPat (20) / DMo (18) / Jones/Royce (10) Asik (32) / DMo (8) / Smith or Harrelson (8) but i'll to that by the trade line: DMo will start over PPat and KMart will be gone and possibly Lamb starting...
Activity can change as the season goes on. Some players might get a stint in D-League for a particular task etc etc.
Lin 35/ Douglas 11 Kmart 32/ Lamb 16 Parsons 35/ Lamb 11 Pat 21/ DMo 11/ Jones 16 Asik 32/ DMo 16 This is my rotation if the season started today. It leaves Morris, Forbes and Rpyce White (who I love) on the outside looking in. In my opinion, this illustrates that we badly need to at least move one of our bigs.
I think the rooks will show a lot of effort, because they're in a rare situation where they can be rewarded with significant minutes. TJ, particularly, coach is looking at you. Let's move past the DHo nonsense and develop the young talent. Trade Martin for picks. Start Lin, Lamb, Parsons, Motijunas, Asik. Sub in TJ, White, Livingston, maybe (if he's got motor) Patterson. Beyond that, it's a dog fight for roster spots between Douglas, Forbes, Johnson, Harelson, Morris, Machado. I'm hoping extreme hustle will produce Ws and fill the TC with loud, appreciative fans. That'd be fresh.
