Do I still hear the word "butterfingers" when talking about Cato?

I don't think I have heard anything like that as the season progresses...

Cato is doing his job well and has improved this season. When Yao is not clicking, he's taking over...

    What do you guys think?

no, there is no butter on his fingers because he has bricks for hands.

He has become a very good role player, but his hands are still his liablility. If he had soft hands he would be a top 15 center and we could get the world for his contract. Or at least a moon off of jupiter

I've been given Cato props all season. He really is playing very well, and perfect for a backup center. He's rebounding like mad, playing solid defense and cleaning up after our guards. Plus he's kept a good attitude. He's worth the money now.

To reply your question(not sure how much sarcasm if any was in it) with a dry factual answer:

Yes he has made field goals that weren't Dunks. Thes include layups, jumpshots, and of all things hookshots. Anyone else remember staring at the TV in astonishment trying to explain how our eyes saw Cato, of all players, making a hook shot, and making it look good?

Granted most of his shots are dunks, but really, do you not remember when he couldn't catch the ball at all. Like last night, the pass from Hawk, he caught that ball and made an athletic dunk. Two years ago that ball goes out of bounds off his hands and Cato is glaing at his hands as he walks back on defense.

I got to get Cato's back on this one, he's been playing some excellent basketball. Without him Yao is even more tired than he is now and we are weak at center.

I think Cato might be the most stylish dunking C in the league.

I think Cato is having a solid season. Not only is he contributing on offense and on the boards, but he is playing fairly solid man defense. And he is making fts... he is earning his salary imo...

    He does have baby hands.

I can't remember the last shot he made that wasn't a dunk.

As long as it goes in I don't care though.

Cato has been making a variety of non dunks this season. If you want any proof look at the game @ Golden State. Cato was an offensive juggernaught in that game. He had the fadeaway, the hook baseline jumper. I all for the Taurus. It really is a shame that Yao is eating into his minutes because I honestly feel that Cato has been earning his money since the middle of last year.

Don't be silly Cato is playing well but he will never be a good enough starting C for a playoffs team let alone a potential title contender.

I think Posey might want to work on his handles when running the break. Two times last night he pulled up and fumbled the roc.

I think Cato's hands are much improved over last year, but he still seams to have a hard time challenging shooters in the painted area.

    carayip,

I'll be 'silly' and throw out the crazy idea that Cato would start or has the potential to start for the following playoff teams:

    WEST

    Utah
    Phoenix
    Portland
    Minnesota

    EAST

    New Jersey
    Philadelphia
    Orlando
    Washington

Anyone who says that Cato is only making dunk shots obviously hasn't watched the Rockets well enough this year. Watch some more games before you post threads full of false information. ;)

Actually no... I don't know what you are saying. Red Chocolate has a point, Cato could be the starting C on a number of playoff teams with the way he's been playing of late. It's just that we have a better C (Yao) to be our starter, thus Cato get relegated to a backup role (which mind you he is perfect for on this team). But on any number of other teams that are slightly weak at the center position, Cato would be a welcome addition AND probable starter.
