This is probably not a bichon (or at least pure bred, which it would have to be to be so white). I think this is a maltese. Bichon puppies have a very distinct face which is not so flat as the puppy pictured. Example of teacup maltese that looks similar:
that puppy is def not a pom.. i happen to own 3 of em and i breed em. Ive never had a puppy look like that.
Make sure to pull the puppy aside and let him know if he ever lays a hand on your daughter you will personally find him and cut off his balls. just to be safe.
My GF has an 8 month old toy Yorkie. He's got AKC championship bloodlines, and she is planning on renting him out to breeders soon (yeah, my baby is a dog pimp ). I never liked little dogs until I met this guy. Cute as a button and smart as a whip.
My daughter has a Cavapoo... a cross between a poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. As small dogs (aka "lap" or "yap" dogs) go, this one is really mellow and doesn't yap too much. Plus, it doesn't shed (from the poodle side) and was pretty quick to house break. They typically look like this (ours is a black, white, tan mix):
