Who would you rather have, be honest?! Both are 20 years old w/ little or no college experience and a world of potential to develop as the next great PFs of the league.

1. EG: lean, long, graceful; nice shooting touch; finesse-type player; shot-blocker; needs to add muscle; quiet, laid-back personality

2. Amare: man-child; physique already NBA ready; pure power game, no finesse; needs offensive refinement; aggressive attitude

Let's see how it goes Wednesday. Should be interesting. Will Amare ever approach Eddie's offensive versatility???

At this point, Amare, no doubt. You really don't need a PF with a great 3-pt shot like Eddie's, it's just a bonus like Steve being able to rebound well.

Amare is a bully that nearly every team needs to win. He's gonna put fire into the rest of his team, and at times can really take over a game without being a great scorer. I would be drooling if the Rockets had him right now.

But, in the long run, a player like Eddie with more refined skills is less of a risk. You never know when a physical specimen like Amare will take a Shawn Kemp-esque turn for the worst.

On a side note, does anyone that watches the Blazers fairly often notice a changing Rasheed Wallace. It seems like he's slower and out of shape, but maybe I'm just seeing things.

Wallace shot 46-126 (36.5%) 3 pts this season. Why do PFs shoot so many 3s these days? What's the world going on?

Eddie has a better chance of maintaining a very high level of play (if he get there) longer than Amare. Eddie can do other things when he is not scoring. But, NOW, it is quite a no-brainer, Amare is better.

Hmm, can Amare turn into a Maurice Lucas and be Yao's body guard? He has the body for it. :D

Griffin can play inside and out. Stoudemire is more dominant inside, but can't shoot outside.

If Rockets had Amare instead of Griffin, lights out baby!!!!!!!!
Rockets will win 8 championship starting next year-hypothetically that is.

Again, that's only a fantasy.

Amare is not the run and jump athlete that Griff is. Nor is he the supreme shot-blocker that EG is and will be. I'm just upset that EG doesn't have any court tenacity or rampid aggresiveness and intimidation like Stoudemire posesses. Kind of sucks because Amare should be the intimidated not the intimidator in his rooie season fresh from prep school. EG needs to add some poundage and learn to bump heads with the other monsters down low, and then his 3-point shot can become a commodity. Too bad Stoudemire is already ahead of Griff in only 1/4 of his rookie season vs Eddie's first full season and 1/4 of his second.

Come on EG, start dazzling us!

to be honest, and I think alot of the GMs would agree with me on this but Amare is the obvious choice. Amare can rebound like a monster, has a decent inside game, good finisher and is aggressive as they come. As he matures, his game is only going to get better and so is his value to the suns. Griffin is still raw, much like Amare but isn't anywhere near the brute strength Amare is. Griffin has a better outside game but who needs a PF with an outside game when you have Francis, Mobley and Rice? Griffin should be rebounding, finishing and cleaning up the boards. Invertly, that is what Amare is doing for the suns.

I do have to admit though, Griffin stepped up during the last two games. I hope he keeps this up and there'll be no more Amare and Griffin comparisons.

Griffin is a very nice player. But Amare is so good man. There is absolutely no doubt in my whole mind that this guy will add a jumper, a fadeaway, a hookshot, EVERYTHING to his game in a few years.

While Griffin has already shown marked improvement, even if he progresses at the same rate as Stoudamire, he'll never have the same build.

Think about it. Amare Didn't go to College, and is in his first NBA season. Griffin went to Seton Hall, and has a full NBA season LOADED with minutes behind him. But a this moment, Amare is further along than Eddie.

Another plus is, if we were picking for US, Amare's power game would fit in MUCH better with our team.

It will be a classic duel for years, but Amare will end up being Karl Malone-calibre (maybe even rings) while Griffin will be a Rasheed Wallace-calibre players (With Ming and Francis, definitely rings).

I really think it depends on what you are looking for. If you are talking about which of the two on most teams or as an overall talent it would likely be Amare, but on this team, I think you would want Eddie.

Amare is not the shot blocker that Eddie is and the bulk of his game is b/c he is involved in the offense and rebounding. His game is based on his intensity and the question is would he be able to keep that intensity if he were not involved in the offense. On this team he would be the 4th or 5th option, just as Eddie is.

Eddie has handled being that 4th or 5th option quite well and gives you what you need. How many plays per game are really run for Eddie? He's a defensive presence who can score if called upon, and that is a perfect fit.

One of the reasons that Mo is on the bench and KT was traded is b/c they could not fit in well, and they needed their shots and there is no room for that on this team.

Amare is one of the premier physical specimens in the league. However, given the success he has seen at all levels of basketball without a complete game, will he be motivated to work on his game and become a complete player? This is what differentiates a Kobe or Jordan from a Shawn Kemp.

At this point, Amare makes a greater impact on most games than Eddie. However, Eddie has made a huge difference in some games for the Rockets. Some games he shows a deadeye shooting touch, he has had up to 16 rebounds, and as many as 5 blocks in a couple games. I love the kid's potential, and we are just going to have to see what he becomes as he grows into his body.

So partly because of the reasons above, and mostly because I'm a homer, I pick Eddie. (With a little luck, for his second contract, we won't have to pay the max. No such luck with Amare =)

This is a bit off topic.

I hope the next game is not a competition between Amare and Yao. Looks like either team is going to showcase who gets the better rookie this season.

Should be interesting to watch.

The styles of play make Amare develop faster than Griffin. But I think in the long run, it is more likely for Griffin to develop strength and aggressiveness than for Amare to develop outside shooting touch, not to mention shot-blocking instincts.

Also, I agree with TheHorns about their roles for their teams also contribute to the appearance of Amare being the better player.

I disagree with those who think PF don't need an outside shot, especially in this era of zone defense. Unless you are Tim Duncan, who I think is more like a center than, not being able to shoot outside will only make your center look useless on offense. We don't want to do that to Ming.

if eddie adds 15 to 30 pounds of muscle he will be the power foward of the future who would you rather have ben wallace or tim duncan I like it that eddie shows no emotions when playing amare will never be nothing but a inside player that will only get you so far people are comparing this kid to a young shawn kemp not even close, amare has no range on his shot which will only take you so far I would not want amare on this team I think when eddie gains weight he will be the better of the two this kid blcked shaQ and had 29 pionts against the lakers last year and like 15 boards the sky is the limit.

Stoudemire will be a very good player, perhaps an All-Star player, in the coming years. During the summer I wanted the Rockets to find a way to draft him -- but not at the expense of giving up the No. 1 to acquire Ming.

However, I chose Griffin in the little poll up top because Eddie fits the Rockets better. He can do everything, and he's going to get better. He shows development with every game.

Eddie walked into a crowded PF field and has emerged as the top dog. It wasn't given to him. Stoudemire walked into the right situation -- the Suns were desperate for an athletic big man. I wonder what would have become of Amare had he suffered the same fate as Zach Randolph -- landing on a team filled with stars.

The Suns are only too happy to let him gamble because his mistakes are errors in fundamentals, not intensity. His motor doesn't stop and that's why fans -- even Rockets fans -- admire his game.

Eddie's game is more akin to Ming's. He does everything with such grace that opponents and fans alike can't believe that Griffin just killed -- he is a quiet assassin.

Be happy we acquired the Griffin. With another 20 pounds, he will be the same size as the Dream. And like the Dream, under that quiet calm of Eddie's demeanor beats the heart of a warrior -- and a winner.

Very eloquently put! I voted Griffin, and I'm not surprised that the majority chose Amare, but the difference btwn the number of votes for each player is shocking. Ppl must really be losing confidence with Griff...:(
