Lamb superstar potential? Unless the media markets him he will at most be a young ray Allen clone

You know teebone, I hear a lot of people compare Lamb to Reggie Miller...and now Ray Allen....

And, I get it. That's lofty praise and I'm sure we'd all be happy if he could be close to those guys. Sure, Jeremy moves well without the ball and has the beautiful stroke....

But, Jeremy has length and athleticism that those guys don't possess. He can put it on the floor, get to the rack, and finish ..... The guy makes it look so effortless at such a young age...like the great ones....Another thing, I believe he will eventually be a dangerous defensive player in the NBA...the Tarantula.

So young......seems like Lamb has a little Penny Hardaway and some George Gervin in him.

if we are looking at them as assets, i'd include the Raptors pick, since it's one of the best Rockets assets:

    1. Lin. Would be far and away the most valuable asset at midlevel, but at 8.4 mil maybe just marginally.
    2. Lamb.
    3. the Raptors lotto pick.
    4. Donatas.
    5. Parsons.
    6. Patterson.
    7. I'd guess T-Jones, but might still be R-White (after all White was drafted higher just a month ago).
    8. R-White.
    9. Kevin Martin. The best player on the roster, but his contract will probably relegate his value to just a nice expiring. Kind of like Chris Kaman last year. If he was on a 3/20 contract, he'd be the best asset on the roster.
    10. Asik. Nice player, pretty bad contract. He will grow in value significantly if he proves to be a consistent 30 MPG starter for a couple months straight.
    11. Everything else is scraps and sweeteners.

I am ranking not for purpose of trade value.

Lin is #1 for this team, will not be traded unless for CP3. He is both on court and off the most important for the team. Let's just assume his play doesn't drop off but improves, he is 24, very dedicated, driven by a much better reason, humble and gifted. So I am predicting he will be better and in an offense where he will lead, his numbers will be very good to great, the PR will be there, Allstar voting maybe, with a little help from our friends overseas. So he is the face of the franchise. And if he improves and the notoriety continues, he may yet be a draw for better players for this team. Yes, this is a little bit of Coolaid sipping on my part...

Asik is #2 because a solid defensive anchor is a must. He should help with protecting the young players when they blow a defensive assignment.

Chandler is #3 because a good 2 way player at the 3 is very valuable. His defensive is good and I think his offense will come around.

Martin is #4 if he is still here by start of season, elder statesmen and excellent offense.

Too many variables to rate #5, the PF. Don't know who would start.

    If ranking for trade:
    1. The pick from Toronto, it is a lottery pick, guaranteed!
    2. The pick from Dallas. Still a 1st round pick
    3. The high 2nd from Bobcats
    4. DMo - tall 7 footer with skills and can run
    5. Chandler - 2 way player with upside and was a starter - experienced
    6. Martin - proven scorer and expiring contract
7 - 9. All 3 rookies. They are looking good but that was summer league. Their "value" depends on the team Rockets are trading to as they perceive their potential.

Lin and Asik are not for trade. Neither are available until January. If they are traded I would be shocked.

there is no way that a future late 1st / early 2nd is more valuable than 2012 mid round/lottery picks.

the Toronto pick, maybe. I'd guess at least Lamb is more valuable. Maybe Donatas too. But that depends on (A) how high you project it to be, (B) how do you project the draft (so far the consensus is that it should be very weak).

I don't believe you've been watching basketball long based on your assessment. Your description of Lamb's skillset is exactly Ray Allen. Not the older Celtics Ray Allen but honestly he is towards the end now. You can look up the measurables if you want or just believe me when I tell you they are the same and Reggie is even longer plus both are far superior defenders which Lamb may develop into.

Good pull on George Gervin though.....we can only hope.

You mean the guy who was averaging 19 points, 4 rebounds, and four assist a game in his second year?

A young Ray Allen clone? You do remember how good Ray Allen was, right?

I'll GLADLY take a young Ray Allen clone. If he ended up like that, he'd potentially end up being the best player from this draft class.

Unfornately most people dont..Its why i laugh when noob analysts compare Bradley Beal to Ray Allen, its almost like they look at Ray Allen as just a jumpshooter. Beal has always been overrated to me, Ray was super quick and super athletic. Beal reminds me more of poor mans Hershey Hawkins to be honest
