Since I can't find the previous thread, I'll start a new one. Me and a big group of friends (about 17 people) and we're staying at the excalibur. Anybody got any recommendations for food? We have (loosely) planned activities so where ever the restaurant/place is fine. We don't exactly have a budget but anything not too expensive would be good.
here you go http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=190143 I will be there next week but for a training. I want to play!
Be more specific and I think I can help you a lot. Reply here or the original thread. If you just want to browse, go here: http://www.vegastripping.com/dining/ Have fun. Also, um, I'm thinking of throwing down some more bets before football season and like having tickets in my possession. Is couriering for me a possibility?
That actually helps a lot! Even I'm not exactly sure what we're looking for, personally I was thinking some buffet or food court while we're gambling during the day, and then somewhere nice for dinner as a big group.
It depends on what you like. I'll say to make sure and check out the serving portions on the menu. I was just there and at first glance thought the Old Homestead was too high priced. But looking at the portions (steak was over a pound) realized that two people could share, and it was extremely reasonable in the end. All bacon is good, but they have a bacon appetizer on their menu that is one of the most amazing things I've ever tasted. The bacon is about 6 0Z. so it's huge. The Burger Bar was also awesome. RAO's is great pasta. I haven't tried Gordon Ramsey's Steakhouse in Paris, but I'd like to. Joe's Seafood from Miami has a place in Caesar's forum shops that is amazing. Great crab. The best Alaskan King Crab Legs I've ever had. Again notice the price and portion size. It is for 1 1/2 pounds and not just 1 pound. So it ended up not only being good, but a good deal comparatively speaking. Mesa Grill is also good. Hash House a-go-go is great.
first suggestion, Excalibur sucks, its one of the older ones, and for $10-20 more/night its worth going next door to Luxor. When i went for Summer League 2 weeks ago, ate at Flamingo's brunch (Saturday) which was excellent. Tried Fatburger for the first time, no bad, but reminds me too much of Fuddruckers. For cheap drinks at the casino bars, I'd suggest going down Fremont. I hope Kwame puts his 2 cents here, he was a big help for us as our chaperon.
Personally, I wouldnt spend whatever funds I had on food in vegas. Maybe go out somewhere nice, and there are a ton of good restaurants, one night. The rest of the time eat whatever. Most casinos will have a food court, but honestly save your money for the tables and the clubs (night & other...). Oh and as someone else said, if it isnt too late, look at other hotels. Excalibur really does suck. Luxor, Treasure Island, MGM are better options IMO. And if you can afford it, get tables at whatever club you go to cause youre gonna spend the money anyways, might as well have a table.
Tables is a no brainer for us (we're a event promoting group), my thinking was the same, gamble eat whatever and then meet up with everybody for a nice dinner. The guy heading this trip wants a more solid itinerary :/ As for the hotel it's already booked by him so we can't change that.
Buffets imo (and many others): 1 seeds - Wynn, Bellagio, Cosmo 2 seeds - Paris, Planet Hollywood, Aria, Mirage on the bubble - MGM, Rio (both) avoid - all others Food Courts (in order of distance from Excalibur): Excalibur (crappy), NYNY (good), MGM (okay), Monte Carlo (okay), Mandalay (mall), Planet Hollywood (mall)...going further is not recommended to walk.
Second that for Burger Bar in Mandalay, worth going and good for a big group (went there with about 14 and sat all together) without crushing your wallet. You can look at the menu online.
