just reading chron, I found it is funny

Rockets center Yao Ming, in perfect English, when asked if he knew any English: "No. I want to make you learn Chinese."

Rockets center Yao Ming has no desire to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal -- at least in the acting business.

His commercial spots and fake limp aside, Yao said Sunday he had no plans for a Hollywood career, before or during his basketball tenure.

Besides, the 7-5 rookie reminded: "I don't think they can find a stunt double, so forget it."

Yao Ming left Compaq Center early Saturday evening, shortly after he sprained his left knee and well before the media could quiz him about his injured joint. Without his usual double dose of pre- and postgame interviews, Yao was more than prepared to face the press Sunday morning.

As he walked out of the exercise room at Westside Tennis Club for treatment on his knee, the Rockets center looked toward the media awaiting him and suddenly began dragging his foot, feigning a bad limp and a pained facial expression.

It lasted all of five seconds before a smile could be noticed at the corners of his lips.

Yes, Yao's sense of humor is fine.

    So is his knee.

Yes, so far he is looking like a throw-back to the old-fashioned image of a sports hero with greatness on and off the court. I'm so glad Steve was wearing his lucky suit.:)

Yao may never be as dominant in the paint as Shaq. But he is definately a better comedian . Hes jokes are actually funny! Unlike Shaq's egotistical bashing of others .

here's another quote from the chronicle. it was actually in the entertainment section. i'll paraphrase:

Media: "Why don't you answer a question in English?"

Yao: "Why don't you ask me a question in Chinese?"

    That is freakin' classic. :D

The funniest thing is he actually said this in English.

Yao is entertaining us both as a basketball player and as a person. He's so eadearing and witty.

I love Yao's sense of humour....

During the halftime segment of a recent game, there was a piece about Colin Pine... in the segment Colin mis-interpreted what Yao said and a Chinese reporter picked up on it... after being corrected by the reporter, Yao called Colin Pine a rookie!! That was funny!

Yao's definately taking over the throne. I just hope he doesn't change his mind on acting and star in Kazaam 2!

Who knows? When he retires maybe he can get on the halftime shows on TNT. :p

And then he said "we all are rookies". He was making a joke and trying to help Colin out. What a humble guy!

He also said the same thing during a interview when Colin's phone went off.

    How about this one:

"Not only that, but I can get a lot more rebounds. The only thing tonight is, Steve and Cuttino shot so well, I didn't get as many rebounds."

He "blamed" Steve and Cat for shooting too well so he couldn't get more rebounds. :D
