I don't know if they have done this regularly before but... Coming after the first commercial break of the Simpsons, Fox decides to put this half screen commercial of Joe Millionaire during the program. Is it just me or is that blatantly wrong to put advertisments that intentionally blocks the original content? I know they do this in sports events like the World Cup, but those are during downtimes in play. This is just like that Fox brand they put on the lower right corner of the screen that started a whole trend. The reason I'm bringing this up is that the marketing suits are all about customer reaction. If they know that this isn't going to be accepted, it will have more incentive of not continuing this trend. At worse, they could move on and put something like the sports/news ticker to make more cash. If you agree and think this is wrong, please write an email to them. They're already making commercials longer than they were. mailto:askfox@foxinc.com FOX Network Primetime's mailing address: FOX Broadcasting Co. P.O. Coming after the first commercial break of the Simpsons, Fox decides to put this half screen commercial of Joe Millionaire during the program. Is it just me or is that blatantly wrong to put advertisments that intentionally blocks the original content? This is the "wave of the future" in my opinion - "pop up ads" on TV, basically. As TIVO-like systems go mainstream, more and more people will be skipping commercials. I just got it through Time Warner recently, and I love watching shows minus the commercials. To counteract that, marketers will integrate the commercials with the content so you can't avoid them. This will also take form of things like scrolling ads across the bottom of the screen, etc, I would guess.
