I wasn't upset, just immature. He's on the official Mavs site. It gets visitors. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but on a site like that he better be prepared to put it up to scrutiny. I'm sure Clutch reads fan mail from his inbred salt lake fans at dinner parties... He writes pretty well, and that big ass picture plastered on his column is supposedly there to disarm us in to knowing better, but when has fanatic sports fans ever had better judgement? It's the stuff radio shows are made of. And that response of his isn't that great either. We come to his page, and aren't entitled to our opinion, but when he comes to our thread he is?? Some are in poor taste, but like we put up to his flawed criticism, he is willingly putting up with ours. So I'm not sure where that guy who wrote a death threat is coming from, but for me, this is my case at making fun of a 15 yr old who looks like a 13 yr old that's criticizing a portion of the NBA he has shown not to know a lick about.
First of all, by saying this, Ben attacked me. Sure he meant it for the ones who had attacked him, but he should've said that. If he goes out and says this about people who had said or done nothing to him, we should have full rights to do the same. This is what angers me. This is the most arrogant comment I've heard in weeks. What are his credentials? Does he write for a (school) newspaper or how has he "earned" it in the first place? Being the editor of one of the top high school newspapers myself (which honestly stinks; I leave mistakes in just to piss off the teacher), I find that a person with little journalistic knowledge should not be writing a column for a professional sports team. It ain't right. You can't defend arrogance, especially from a jerk of this caliber.
OMG!! You people are losing it!! You posted his piece, you corrected what you saw wrong in it.. He answered, not the best answer he could have given.(matter of fact ben, you would do yourself a service by stickin to arguing with facts and not trading insults) but he answered.. Why must yall continue to pile on and keep trashing, it doesn't make you look like a bigger man, quiet the contrary..it make syou look like he was right in his supposition about your social/status in life.. Come on guys...let it die... please??
I don't think they really care about how you look. It just upset them when you put down our players without strong supporting evidences. Imagine if someone on the Rockets official web site wrote an article and putting down Dirk or Nash or Finley. I'll bet there will be a lot of angry Mavericks fans. But again you are entitle to your opinion and after all it is only a game.
Mr Collins, Allow me to correct you. You aren't a "journalist". You are a kid who is allowed to post his ramblings on the Mavs web site. You are as much as a journalist as we are on this site. I think it's cute that Mr. Cuban gives you web space to root for the Mavs. Heck, they need all the support they can get. Until they learn to play defense they will continue to choke in the playoffs as usual. As for Yao Ming...if you are going to be a pretend journalist you should at least do some research on the guy. Don't just watch 5 games and pass judgement on him. How about using your official Mavericks journalist badge and go down to the Mavs practice site and interview Don Nelson and get his thoughts on Yao? Better yet, why don't you ask you idol Shawn Bradley what he thinks about Yao? Or is his head still stuck in the sand after that kicking Yao gave him? Oh, another point. "Journalists" are expected to be unbiased and not a homer for their favorite team. I don't have a problem with you expressing your views on the Mavs site...just don't go overboard labeling yourself something you aren't. Good luck in the future.
I am a journalist. I write for the print magazines SportsFan Magazine, TheInsiders Magazines (Giants Insider, BC Eagles Insider), TeenInk, and the national TV show Kids Talk Sports. Nice try. I have backed up my Yao Ming opinion. I wrote an entire column on the guy. Sheesh. I have a life, so I'm just gonna leave now.
Mr. Journalist Collins, Do you mean 25 points by Yao only on Jan 17th game or any game between Rockets and Lakers? Actually IMO, 25 points already shows how much you respect Yao. If you think Yao is that bad, you would say Yao won't score more than 10 pts or even lower that that against Shaq. Answer this, do you think Shawn can score more than 10 points against Shaq?
AAHHH HHAA!!!!!!!! NOW you leave! After all of that, you leave just to get the last word in! Again your criticism is uncanny and unnecessary. And if you think you are secured with a "journalistic" job in the future, think again. No newspaper, magazine, or other print journalism would ever pay you. They would have to be out of their freakin' mind! Why don't you just run along with your "teen" and "kid" columns and come back when you have a job or are on a RESPECTABLE internet site, magazine, or newspaper. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't consider DallasMavericks.com to be credible! Now I better go get dinner and calm my anger. This is pathetic to get so angry and overworked at THIS. "Sheesh."
"Journalist" is not a protected title such as attorney or so. I guess anyone can call himself a journalist. But I find it a little bit presumptuous for a 15-year old to call himself a journalist. Kid, there are actually universities where people study this. "Freelance writer" would be less assuming.
You backed it up with opinion after opinion. There was nothing factual in that entire column. If you think that column was in any bit credible, you have a lot to learn if you want a real journalism job in the future. The industry won't be so kind to you when you turn 18.
Sorry, didn't mean to not stick to my word, but I refreshed the page and it was there already. Do I think Shawn can score 10 against Shaq? Ya, sure, but no much more, it's probably only going to be jumpers and one wide open layup. Shaq is dominating. Shawn is scrawny. I don't know why you guys think I think Shawn is better than Yao. He isn't. Yao Ming is better than Shawn. That's the reason I have higher expectations from him. That's probably why I don't like Yao Ming, I don't think he's really utilizing his ability to his max. He's got great potential. Second tallest in the league, he's got heart, he's got a great fan base, almost overly devoted, and he loves the game, but I want him to play better because it would be best for the sport. If he doesn't put up great numbers and makes the All-Star game, it should be Shaq because he's better now, but if if he puts up great numbers and makes it, then I like the guy. He's got great ability and could seriously help the NBA, but he really needs to use what he has every night, and then I'll like the guy. I really hope he proves me wrong on the 17th.
There is a different tone. Maybe Cuban wouldn't allow him to write this on the page. Yao Ming is using his abilities about as good as he can on this team. He arrived to a team with 2 proven NBA scorers, missed a training camp, and is adjusting to living full-time in another country. He is doing quite well considering the circumstances. Go look at what Dirk did under LESS scrutiny and less expectations in his rookie year. Yao is extraordinary. BTW, this won't be the first time a player with less appealing stats will make the all-star game over someone more deserving. Kobe Bryant started the all-star game as a 6th man on the Lakers.
I havent jumped in here yet, I wont start now except to say... Why not give hm a chance, he hasnt been here long enuff to fulfill the expectations that people have because of his potential. Noone in his situation could come in and be all they can be so soon..If he isnt really fulfilling expectations by year's end, then fine...get on him for whatever you think he is not doing right...but for jebus' sake, give the kid some time to do it...dont write him off after 20-odd games.. kids today, they aint got no damn patience...
let me get this straight, david robinson, tim duncan, tracy mcgrady, michael jordan etc, etc... have all had nothing but praise for yao ming on his game and potention, and you guys are getting worked up on some 14 yr old kid's opinion on ming? Don't give this kid the attention that he's obviously craving....
