Lol...exactly. If D'antoni ever became the Rockets head coach I don't know what I would do. The dude absolutely sucks and his way is never going to win any championships.
D'Antoni is a decent hire for a low struggling team that wants to be "upstart". Right NOW he is not a good hire for a higher team that takes itself seriously. He was that guy YEARS ago after Phoenix. But not anymore.
I love D'Antoni's offensive schemes. But NO to him as a head coach, and NO to him as an offensive coach. The biggest flaws in MDA is his stubborness and inability to adjust, and it led to his ternination in Phoenix and NY. He just didnt know how to get the most out of his players. You don't need D'Antoni to run D'antoni's offense. Spurs basically run the same type of D'Antoni's offensive system. They switched from post up dump-it-to-Duncan offense from 2008 to MDA system. For years Popovich tweaked it and took this system to another level and posted the best in scoring and offensive efficiency in NBA last year. I wouldnt mind if Morey can pry away Spurs assistant coach Mike Budenholzer and make him into our offensive coach.
At least give McHale another year to see how this team do than just trying to drive him out after a shorten season..
Lin ran the floor like Secretariat, however it is very possible that Jeremy also contributed to his own injuries from his prolonged high octane level of play. The Knicks had a Very Smart idea in having a Future Hall Of Fame point guard such as Nash or Kidd mentor Lin and teach him the importance of playing at an Elite Level yet Sustainable pace for the entire season and playoffs (to prevent injuries and maximize Wins). “To have the chance to mentor a very good player, to be able to share what I’ve learned the last 18 years, is something I’ve been looking forward to.” The first thing Kidd wants to impart upon Lin is pace. As in pace yourself. Kidd got that very same advice years ago when he went to Phoenix and it obviously has served him well. “Looking from the outside, it’s trying to teach him different gears. He just plays at one gear and it’s a very high gear, so for me, we’ll sit down and talk about trying to find that fourth and third gear so that he has the energy to finish ball games,” said Kidd. “We want him to play the whole season. At just one gear, it’s hard to play 82 games.” Unfortunately, superstars such as Kidd are human and on occasion make Very Bad decisions in life. However, there is likely some truth in his statement about Jeremy's style of play and with proper knowledge and guidance may help extend the future of Lin and other players in the NBA. Hopefully, Kidd can find a way to do something Positive off the court in regards to his DWI issues. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/jason_willing_close_games_jeremy_4blnai9Mrtjfk4M8jRAp1N
MDA would ride JLin like a secretariat and thus run him into ground and ruin his long term career. I'd best like Sloan as Lin's mentor this point in his career.
"LET GO!!!!!!" That D'Antoni's play book. Horrible at game management, defense and making adjustments. I rather have Aldelman or JVG back
i think that's nonsense. just because D'Antoni teams didn't win a championship doesn't mean that his system can't win it. A system that's good enough to get Nash/Marion/Diaw core to conference finals is good enough to win it all, given luck/health/better talent.
That is actually a little bit of a myth. Dantoni spent all of training camp with the Knicks focusing on defense and defensive schemes. The Knicks were a top 10 defensive team this year under Dantoni. Dantoni's problem is his coaching style. He doesn't coach effort he feels that players should be professional and be able to motivate themselves. He shouldn't have to motivate you. That is why him and Lin got along well, same with Nash, because those guys bring it every game. Melo on the other hand has to be motivated and pushed. Dantoni just expects you to do your thing.
Why change anything, without stars we almost made play-off's last season. We drafted three rookies and in a short period of time we made the best SL team out of it, with two top players on SL list with potencial to become All-stars. So I think our staff is doing something right, right? And I think there is no need for a change.
No, it is almost impossible. I was really hoping NY kept him for more time in last year to give ours a better chance to get a better pick, but they let him go, and the result was that we got the pick 16 instead of 15 or higher pick.
