On a side note, anyone notice on the Knicks forums how they are all of a sudden getting excited about the idea of stealing Machado from us, to 'get us back' for stealing Lin..? They are talking a lot about how great Machado is, how great he would be on the Knicks. On one hand, I would be happy for the kid for getting a gig like that based off of summer league and having been undrafted. However... Seeing as how the last time we just let a guy like that go, it cost us 25 million, maybe we should try to hang onto the guy.. seems like if the Knicks want an undrafted pg from our squad, that probably a good sign that we should keep him..
He wasn't cleared. There's a very simple way to put this. If New York had signed Lin for that cheap first offer and he was still a Knick... do you think ANYONE in Manhattan, let alone in the Knicks organization would have a problem with this? The staff all signed off on Lin sitting. The medical staff, the coaching staff, the guys selling the tickets everyone. In fact Woodson gave a lot of quotes about how he didn't expect Lin to play and frankly, made it sound like he didn't really need him or want him. It's all bull**** after the fact, to try to slur this kid. Why? Because New York knew at the time that it was insanity (minus the L) to risk a longterm team asset (which Lin was at the time) on a series they would not win. Now that they cut Lin loose, all this **** is flung about how this Chinese kid has no loyalty and should have taken one for the team risking himself on a meaningless series where the coach didn't even want to start him. The bottom line is that the decision making process was made from TOP to BOTTOM in the organization to safeguard the longterm investment not only of Jeremy Lin but the longterm interests of the NEW YORK KNICKS as well. Now that Lin no longer plays into the longterm interests of New York they cut him loose and slander him with stuff they themselves are complicit in. Yeah so if a player is looking out for the best interests of himself and the franchise. Huge red flag IMO.
He's been training extremely hard(I think he's been back with sparta sports again) and rejecting endorsement deals from China.
No kidding? You there? Take a photo with your cell phone if you are and post it here. You will be praised!
