Also, make sure you pour some out on the curb for the Republicans and teatards for blocking attempts to provide badly needed repairs government infrastructure like roads nd putting that construction worker on food stamps.

Who needs levies or bridges over the Mississippi! Not rugged individualists, that's what dugout canoes are for.

Neither of these things are true. They were true once, but they haven't been true for about 30 years now.

Study the family history of the wealthiest men in America. They were almost all born with advantages, connections, and privileges that the majority of us don't have.

There are still a handful of people on the list who really did work their way up from relatively low on the class scale - but they're the exception these days, not the rule as they were up to the middle of the last century (or thereabouts).

Europe is not only more socially progressive, they're also getting increasingly better social mobility. It's not great, but - at the very very least - their poor aren't forgoing medical treatment and working like slaves for scant wages with no benefits. So while the tippy-top of the social scale in Europe may be more calcified (but not by much), at least the bottom of the scale isn't nearly as huge (in terms of population), as punishing, or as crippling to mobility as it is in the United States.

Romney clobbering Obama on the "you didn't built that" gaffe...

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/07/18/blunt-is-better-for-romney/

The taxpayers pay for government. It’s not like government just provides those things to all of us and we say, ‘Oh, thank you government for doing those things.’ No, in fact, we pay for them and we benefit from them and we appreciate the work that they do and the sacrifices that are done by people who work in government. But they did not build this business.”

-- Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney campaigning in Irwin, Pa.

What Romney is saying doesn't make sense. That's Obama's whole argument, that the government can't provide necessary things if people don't pay taxes.

“He didn't invent iron ore and blast furnaces, did he?”

    “Who?”

“Rearden. He didn't invent smelting and chemistry and air compression. He couldn't have invented his Metal but for thousands and thousands of other people. His Metal! Why does he think it's his? Why does he think it's his invention? Everybody uses the work of everybody else. Nobody ever invents anything.”

She said, puzzled, “But the iron ore and all those other things were there all the time. Why didn't anybody else make that Metal, but Mr. Rearden did?”

lol Ayn Rand was wrong about almost every subject she discussed. The consistency of her wrongness was stunning.

Coming up with an idea doesn't require any roads. Getting people to places where they can SPEND MONEY on your idea requires an infrastructure - and you didn't build that infrastructure, but your idea took its existence for granted. The only reason people can really come up with business ideas is because they know the system supports business. Otherwise - why even think about it?

Ayn Rand was a sad, dishonest, and mentally-ill woman, and your use of her writing as an analog to this situation is insufficient to make the point you want to make.

Has Romney been reading Das Kapital?

ALLOW! The government ALLOWS the success of our heroic entrepreneurs and business leaders!?

Why doesn't he just grow a goatee and get it over with.

“If you’re one of the millions of Americans counted as part of the eight percent unemployed, you didn’t get there on your own. Somebody else made that happen.

    And he’s running for reelection.”

Hightop, care to comment on Ron Paul's hatred for liberty that he expressed during his CPAC 2011 speech?
