Royce white is a bust. Reallistically, we took 3 first rounders so the odds are at least would be a bust. White didn't do much scoring or rebouding so far in Vegas. Cut bait now or I guess wait until trade deadline but I don't see him getting much playing time so yeah.
Is Diamon Simpson on a guaranteed contract? That guy has looked worse than Courtney Fortson in limited minutes.
Lin isn't a 7 footer, he just wants to wear #7. I really wanted to keep Leuer & Harrellson. Guess I'll have to be satisified with Harrellson.
Every once in a while, Clutchfans reminds me that the average poster age is probably around 11 years old. This is one of those times.
Shaun Livingston was never going to get waived. His $3.5M salary for next season is only partially guaranteed for $1M; and apparently he doesn't have an early "guarantee date" by which he must be waived before the deal becomes fully guaranteed, meaning that the Rockets essentially have until December or January before they have to fully guarantee Livingston's contract. This will make him either (a) a valuable component part in a Dwight Howard trade; (b) a trade chip to use later in the summer or in the first half of the season; or (c) an otherwise adequate backup PG with size (6'7") and who can defend multiple positions. Yeah, Livingston was never getting waived. No point in eating the $1M for nothing. I'm with you on Leuer. Dude can play. However, I'm fairly confident that the primary reason the waiver announcement was late this afternoon and not yesterday was because the Rockets were trying like hell to find a taker for Leuer. I'm actually SHOCKED that not even a team like Miami would part with a future second rounder for this guy. I suppose the Rockets simply didn't have a spot for him in the rotation and didn't want to get tied to any guaranteed salary when they're trying to make a run at Dwight Howard that may or may not involve using their remaining cap room to get it done. Simpson is clearly not the level of player that Leuer is. However, Simpson's deal is fully non-guaranteed AND he can be aggregated with other salaries in upcoming trades. His surviving today's "cuts" is hardly a sign that he'll be on the final 15-man roster. Don't get TOO satisfied with Harrellson just yet. If the Rockets cannot complete a Dwight Howard (or other mega-) trade by August 15, it's quite likely that Harrellson will be waived to open up more cap room. His contract becomes fully guaranteed on August 15, whereas guys like Fortson and Simpson will remain non-guaranteed even into the regular season.
I'll cut Royce White before machado. machado dropped 10 dimes in a game that we won. Royce White didn't do anything to contribute to 3-1 winning record in Vegas. Take winners since we're rebuild
He is. Why nobody with cap space would have offered a 2nd rounder for him, I don't know, unless they figured they could get him off waivers for nothing. When the end goal is Howard/Bynum, and every dollar matters, he was the obvious man out. Fortson/Simpson are worthless as players, but Morey gave them unguaranteed deals so he could trade them to a team like Orlando to match salary.
eight/nine man rotation: martin, lin, parson, douglas, lamb, patterson, jones, morris, motiejunas deep bench: machado, livingston cut or injuried reserve: royce white
Brockman is guaranteed. Simpson & Fortson can be traded as part of Howard package to take back contracts. Why Jordan over Simpson/Fortson, I have no idea.
