Here come the Steve only fans again

Talking about Super Stars, Jason kidd is considered one of the best players in the whole Association but I very sure he does not even average 24 ppg (no need to check). I even believe that Antuan Jamison averages more points per game than him but Jamison is not in the 3rd tier of the best players in the association. Anyway Francis though he does not come across as a "brainy" basketball player, he has a good heart and a great work ethic. He is definitely a star. A star.

I actually had a good amount of respect for Feigan before he wrote this piece of crap. Its sounding like he is becoming a shill for the Rockets and not necessarily writing what he truly believes. This whole spin job about assists not mattering b/c Francis and Mobley like to score off the dribble is a complete crock of bs. The whole point of many discussions on this bbs is that two guards that consistently do that is not winning basketball. Winning basketball is not about a couple of guys dribbling a bunch and scoring off the dribble. The common theme of great teams in the past 20 yrs or so has always been unselfish offense combined with good defense and rebounding. The teams that win the rings rank highly in the Ast to TO ratio category and FG% against category which leads to a high ranking in point differential. This is what winning basketball is. This article insinuates that the Rockets are trying to re-invent a new type of basketball thinking to stubbornly support their lack of team play on offense. Thats comparable to financial analysts trying to invent new models or twist models in such a fashion to make internet companies look like good buys or Chris Simms supporters trying to create new statistical categories like unearned interceptions or what not.

As long as the Rockets continue this low assist stagnant offense, they will continue to be inconsistent. They have been solid defensively and on the glass, but the lack off passing and team involvement is holding this team back. Keep an eye on the assist category in relation to the TO category. If this team ever starts tallying something like 22 ast and 14 TOs each game on a CONSISTENT basis, you will see the team win much more consistently. Until then, it will continue to underachieve, and Feigan can write as many articles as he wants to rationalize the ridiculous style of play.
