Morey is playing this perfectly. He knows LAL will have to include the Rockets as the 3rd team and will gladly take Bynum as a back up option. However, he wants Dwight and will give up more to get Dwight. He isn't going to up the offer though as we have the leverage. Purely class job by Morey to put us into a very advantageous situation.

Would be very excited if we end up with Bynum for:
A few of Orlando's bad contracts
    The Toronto pick
    The Dallas pick
    Knicks two 2nd rounders
    Kevin Martin
    One of our young "assets"

Wondering if we can pull off a Lee sign and trade netting us another pick to sweeten any trade proposal.

Would rather have Dwight, but would be thrilled to add Bynum too. Either way we'll be looking pretty good with the signing of Lin and some of our young talent (assuming they're not all traded).

    *Please keep Lamb. Please.

    Broussard:

    How realistic are talks?

At this point, it looks like Dwight has 2 destinations--Houston or LA. He still got Brooklyn as his #1 choice. That has sailed for at least the next 6 months. LA faces hurdles. Dwight has to commit long term and Bynum will not commit to Orlando. He'll give a maybe. He knows its better to become a FA then sign a new contract rather than sign now. Orlando doesn't want to take that chance. Lakers don't have the assets. They need picks and young players to send to Orlando and that's where Houston comes in. Orlando will trade Dwight but not in a rush. This still could play out.

Can this be a team to team trade?

No, it can't be team to team unless Orlando decides they'll take a chance on Bynum. They risk him leaving. Nash has been a guy that Dwight has always wanted to play with. That I'm sure sweetens the aroma of playing in LA.

Seems like petulant child for petulant child, why does LA do this?

As good as Bynum is, Dwight is better.

at this point, I think whatever team takes Dwight will want a long-term agreement given his questionable injury history. If I'm Morey, I'd take Bynum in exchange for fewer of our promising assets and we get a guy that is more likely to stay in Houston.

Morey should offer the same deal rumored to have been offered Orlando initially for Dwight (which they rejected).

    Martin
    Raptors Pick
1 asset (Patterson, Morris, or 1 of the 4 rookies hopefully not parson/dmo/lamb)
    take on a bad contract
    2nd round pick

Done! Remember, we would be trading for bynum not Dwight. LA would have to throw in something extra...not sure what or who they would offer though.

Say No to Bynum. He's not a good player and was a 4th option on 2 title teams.

He's the 2nd best center in the game, but that title doesnt hold much weight these days.

If the Rockets can't get Howard, find a young center on the cheap.

Thinking about this if ORL wants to trade Howard to LA and send us back contracts they can kiss Lamb goodbye.

Only way I'd send Lamb to ORL is if we get Howard.

[rquoter]Team executive involved in Lakers/Magic talks regarding Dwight Howard said not to travel too far down path of latest Yahoo! report. Teams have been talking for weeks, not making much progress.

Different Eastern Conference executive believes Magic in no hurry to move Dwight, holding out for Houston to up its offer. Plenty of people in Vegas this week believe DH will ultimately wind up in LA, I'm still betting he either starts the year in Houston or Orlando.[/rquoter]

I still don't understand why so many people prefer to jump on the Bynum bandwagon over the Howard bandwagon. It seems to much more logical to prefer Howard over Bynum for various reasons.

    1. Dwight Howard is simply a much better player than Bynum.
    2. The risk of Howard leaving is not really higher than the risk of Bynum getting injured at inopportune times, as Bynum's injury history may be even scarier than Yao late in his career.
    3. If Dwight Howard leaves, then you likely get some draft picks in S&T, tank, and start brand new. If Bynum breaks down, his max contract stays on the Rockets books for up to FIVE seasons, where your entire team is screwed because of cap ramifications and you can't contend.

To be fair, I prefer either player over going full tank mode next year. I like Bynum a lot, and is willing to take a risk on him. But if I were Morey, my package for Bynum would most certainly be smaller than one for Howard straight up.

It's all about posturing and negotiating.

I'm NOT a Morey "fan" but at least it doesnt seem like he's being a fool about this and giving into all that ORL is asking. By now he knows that time is on his side for multiple reasons.

He knows that the longer this goes on, the lower D12's value. He also knows that no other team of D12's interest is capable of coming close to what HOU is offering. It is obvious that ORL isn't really "that" interested in Bynum because ORL wants to rebuild over the next couple of seasons and not pay out for a max contract during the process.

Clutchfans need to see that the longer this all takes, the more "assets" we actually get to keep.

If we can come out of the D12 trade with Parsons, Lamb, Jones, and White its a STEAL.

Understand that most of the pick will be gone. That is what ORL wants most. That and sheding salary.
