This whole process is extremely high risk. Like I said in another thread, when the dust clears the Rockets are going to be a contender, a pretender, or possibly the worst team in the NBA. Frankly, almost everyone agrees that another year stuck in basketball purgatory was intolerable; something had to happen. The process is painful though. It could blow up or work about extremely well. Hard to wait.
100% right and thoughtfully laid out.... Prepare to be ignored by most and called a dumbass by others.
excellent post, if we don't get him this year we're rebuilding, if we get him and he walks at the end of the year we're rebuilding. I can't STAND dwight howard, but he's a superstar and you'd be a fool to say it's not worth it.
Instead of this whole going after Dwight deal, what if the Rockets offered Kevin Martin's expiring plus Morris and the Knicks 2 rounders for Pau. Would you do it now?
We are in the drivers seat. Morey will not do something stupid. i think finally people are seeing how well he plays the game. he knows the stakes, risk/reward & potentials better then any poster on here IMO. People screamed for BIG changes. Guess what? This is what it looks like.
It's a real shame we are pursuing the course we are. If we stayed pat, we would be downright awful for the next 3 years. In those 3 years, we have a very good chance of drafting one or two players we can build around. The guys and picks we have now can work out to form a strong bench and the role players around stars. In 3 years, you will have a very good and young team, and heaps of cap space to add an established superstar via free agency to take us over the top.
I couldn't agree more. After the Lin Camby move, I can't see him screwing this up. I just hope we don't give up Lamb.
Says who? You in on the negotiations? Ooooooh, the dreaded ClutchFans "book it" -- which has NEVER ONCE actually come true. EVER. Even if Dwight decides not to stay, Morey's too smart to get raped in that situation -- he'll end up getting picks, prospects, and a solid vet or two out of it. He won't let Howard simply sign with someone else. I guarantee you he's already working on ways to ensure that the team benefits even if Howard leaves after one year. True, they've all been great in SUMMER LEAGUE. But don't forget, Marcus Morris was great in SUMMER LEAGUE. Donte Green was great in SUMMER LEAGUE. Hell, Malik Badiane was great in SUMMER LEAGUE. Lots of guys are great in SUMMER LEAGUE -- that's why it's called SUMMER LEAGUE. Because you're not really thinking about it very much. You're too busy crying and fretting instead. Man up -- Morey is making a huge gamble and will give up as little (and take back as little) as he can get away with to land Howard. Quit whining about us losing all our brilliant summer league talent.
And none will amount to a superstar sorry-maybe good, but not Howard elite ...you do the trade no matter what-you win with a superstar then get dime a dozen players that are far more efficient than these rookies will be in what maybe it'll take 3-4 yrs to develop. Rudy Gay took shots his rookie yr n avg. 12-13 ppg Durant was crazy, and there you have it You build around a superstar that has rare attributes that will be effective in dominating teams Lamb is too small n weak to be a dominating player..jones is our best chance, and i see him in a Cousins/Landry mold
Love how no one is concerned that dwight is still in rehab, can't run, and won't even be ready to start season. Back surgery is a huge problem btw
If we trade our picks we will have no shot at Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker why not just tank or suck, and try to get one of those guys
