I'd rather sign Howard in 2013. We lose no assets and get howard if he wants to come here. If he doesn't come that's fine w/ me. Rookies and draft pics > 1 yr rental Howard.

I rather have Lin and rooks than Dwight if he not committed. Shoot, he change his mind more than girl on period. Too much risks esp with the back. Do we have what it take to convince him to stay besides money? idk

I will rally behind our rookies.
Not a Howard fan but if he sticks and makes us better without giving up much
    I'm good.

I'd rather have Lin and rooks then have somebody for a one year rental and a bad back IMO

So what. They could still try to get Bynum in the offseason.

Better chance of retaining Dwight than of finding a superstar through the draft. I don't want more seasons with guys who are all-star reserves once or twice, I want a championship contender, and for that you need a top 10 player.

Lamb, Motiejunas, etc just have that Shiny New Toy(tm) gleam to them right now, that's why everyone is so excited. The reality is none of them will ever be a franchise player and we will be LUCKY if the end result is similar to what we had last year with Lowry/Dragic and Scola.

We're basically just signing up for a longer path back to the mediocrity treadmill if we don't make the Howard trade.

I love this offseason. I can honestly say that I will be very happy if the Rockets get Howard and I will be very happy if they do not and we get to watch Lin and the young players learn, struggle, develop and grow together. If they do not get Howard, I hope they get Asik, but, if not, I would love to see what happens when the Wolf (D-Mo) gets thrown to the wolves of NBA centers. He would struggle at times, but I think he would grow into the role.

This is going to be a fun season to watch, and I think the Rockets are on the right track now. If Howard comes here they have their franchise player and the best center in the league. If not, they are a lottery team with a lottery pick coming from Toronto and a lot of solid young players -- many of whom have pretty high ceilings.

Overall, I guess I would rather they trade for Howard so that I don't have to root against Lowry up in Toronto -- but overall, I'm just going to sit back and get the popcorn ready.

Wow Nostradamus its amazing you could see so far into the future. I mean Lamb isn't even 23, and he's been ranked as number 1 rookie in SL

OTH, Dwight's coming off surgery and already said he will wait out his year and go to another team. The question isn't that WHite and co. will be better than Dwight, its that will Dwight stay here after his year is done? I'd rather keep our rooks than risk Dwight leaving us for nothing.

There is absolutely no way you can know this to be true. You can never predict the players that were not expected to be great, that turn out that way. You might end up being correct but you never know.

Might be the toughest decision for a normal GM to make.
Daryl isn't a normal GM with his infatuation with statistics.
If it comes down to this he will pick Dwight's one year contract and bolt.

    I personally prefer the rookies.

I like what Lin did with a solid group of guys without Amare and Melo in the Knicks. So I'll go with Lin and the Rooks.

Of course best case scenario will be Howard + Lin + Rooks.

I don't see why it's so hard to see these simple facts:

    1) Dwight doesn't want to be here, he wants to be in BK. This is very unlikely to change - and it would take a WCF finish at the least to convince him, amongst many other things.
    2) Dwight is coming off a serious injury/surgery. He is unlikely to start off at 100%. Our team around him will likely be mediocre and stripped, and without a healthy Dwight, that's a low-level playoff team.
    3) Dwight will likely dog-it until the inevitable 2013 FA period.

I don't care if Donuts, Lamb, White or Jones aren't going to be top-3 NBA players. But they all look great individually, and could be even better together. And best of all - they're here to stay, barring a Morey blunder.

Lin and the Rooks all the way. My reasoning is pretty simple. Dwight will miss a huge chunk of the season, has back problems, and likely won't be back to 100% for the whole year. As a Rockets fan, I've had enough of that kind of sh-t.

Howard is supposed to be unable to walk yet. So getting Howard is the tank route.
