I wouldn't actually consider it a meltdown so to speak, if NY matches.

More like the beginning of another epic Morey Bash, because once again he just can't close the deal on bringing in a star (near star level player).

The fans have officially turned on Melo. I don't see a happy locker room is Lin goes back to NYC.

They will never do it but the Knicks should offer up Melo and Chandler for Dwight. Then match the Lin offer.

(And I'm still not going to believe they're not matching the Lin offer until Wednesday morning.)

Melo is such an idiot. No matter what happens, his comments about Lin's contract will lock him in jail with Knicks fans. This is so awesome!!

IMO, the best-case scenario is for the Knicks to not match, Raymond Felton to completely fail while Lin looks OK to very good on the Rockets. If the Knicks do match, serious chemistry issues on their team will shadow them the whole season. Either way, the press will be like piranhas on a feeding frenzy.

I repeat, Melo is such an idiot and deserves the pressure he's put on himself. Whatever happens, he will get blamed for all negatives.

Why would Rockets fans care if they match? I think half the people here already feel he's getting overpaid. And it's not like it's unexpected, given that NY has said gazillion times how they'd match up to a billion dollars.

Besides, if NY match, then 20+ team owners in the NBA would be calling Morey to offer him their thanks for making them an extra $1-2mil 3 years from now. At least it spreads some goodwill among the lesser teams in the league today. :)

At least Tmac actually got game, and brought it to the playoffs. Melo's rode on a stacked Denver team his whole career, is overweight (with baby fat), has no court vision, can't d up and can't hit 3s to save his life.

This can't be a serious statement. He may not try very hard on defense, but that is because he is normally shouldering the load offensively for every team he is on. He is a good outside shooter, and is also a clutch player.

Didn't slow LeBron down, nor Kevin Durant, while there have been many great scoring wings who were also very good defenders.

    Knicks Fan Here

Man, you guys are rough. Seems like you love to rub it in our faces, when DM has pretty much abused us constantly since the TMac trade and before.

I understand you're happy once again that DM has taken Dolan's lunch money (although Dolan has much more lunch money in his other pocket).

Knicks fans (like myself) are not in full meltdown mode by any means. We're simply confused, as our owner is rashly unpredictable and it seems as if every time we may have something going for us, it's ripped from our hands and smashed to pieces.

We traded you some assets that (I personally LOVE -TD) could very well turn out to be GREAT players in the future, all for a 38y/o that you couldn't have possibly wanted anymore, as you guys are in a state of rebuild. You fleeced us, once again, and just left us confused as to why our GM made that decision.

DM surely isn't making any friends with the moves he's making, but then again Dolan could care less about anyone other than himself and his cable network. While I cannot assure you Dolan won't match the offer for Lin, I can tell you that our management will most likely make fools out of us at least one more time before training camp starts.

I personally think the Knicks will match, if for any other reason than to "get back (ROFL) at DM." Dolan's exactly the kind of guy who will point the finger at Morey and laugh, all while he's paying $30millon out of his pocket for NOTHING. So, out of ignorance and stupidity (on our owner's behalf), you may be without Felton or Lin, but you certainly have a good future with DM wheelin' and dealin.

Just had to stop in and say hi, I am tired of reading the same ish on the Knicks boards (btw I am member of Knicksonline.com, a real Knick board unlike the RealGM board or any other).

    Thoughts?

I think yesterday people were getting used to the idea that NY wouldn't match, so if they do, I think a lot of people here will be pretty upset.

Our PG options don't look very good right now, so if NY matches, I think there will be a meltdown here. There are meltdowns over way lesser ****.

He is comparing Melo to T-Mac. Melo, like T-Mac is a very capable defender when he wants to be. His points of Melo not having good court vision, and not being a good outside shooter are plain wrong. I think Melo is actually a very capable passer, and playmaker.

I guess he can be summarized as a top talent, without the motor of a LeBron, or Durant. Same problem Tracy had, but with injury issues to compound that.

J-Lin did a lot more for the Knicks last year then Melo did. If anything Carmelo has the ridiculous contract. And with so many players being overpayed nowadays I don't think this is a terrible deal for the Rockets.
