Assuming the Knicks don't match Lin, what do you think the chances is he starts in the all star game? Of course he's not better then Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Steve Nash, ect.

But we know he will receive lot's of international votes. Remember, T-Mac was almost voted in as a starter without playing any significant minutes. So even though he won't deserve it, do you see Lin being voted in the 2013 All Star Game in Houston as a starter?

If we get Dwight Howard, yes, because I expect us to win a lot of games and Lin will be a big part of it. If not, then, no.

Assuming that the Knicks don't match, then I think there will be no chance that they leave him off of the All-Star roster. If nothing else as an alternate or something. Because remember they don't do 2 pg's and 2 sg's anymore, they do 4 G's. So I would have to say yeah they'll find a way to make the All-Star game worth watching for all of the over-seas fans who are interested.

This is a bad deal for the rockets. If the knicks dont match, and it appears they won't, the rockets grossly overpaid for a mediocre point guard. melo said the contract was ridiculous. I agree 100%. However, it's not the first and it certainly won't be the last ridiculous contract ever signed. If a team is stupid enough to offer it, I say, where's the dotted line. Jeremy Lin is a turnover machine and plays very little defense. i also think teams will continue to make adjustments on him and he will be relegated to the bench. And if they don't get Howard, they are totally screwed!

Exactly. It's a short term version of Kelvin Cato

Starts on the allstar team?? Slim, i bet he's a solid starter for us IF we sign him. Doubt he'll make the allstar team or even be consider'd (for talent reasons) an allstar this year.

If Lin is a very good player meaning his avgs are 18 ppg or better, 8 apg or better then Lin has a decent shot to be the all star starter. Lin appeals to a lot of people including Christians like Tim Tebow as well as Asian Americans and Asians.

If Lin is not a good player he won't be an all star like - Lin his first 2 years, Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhi Zhi, Sun Yue, Manke Bateer and all the others

Yao was an all star because he was always a top 4 center in the NBA. Normally top 2 or 3

    really? Cato's 6 year $42M contract after averaging 3.5/3.5 in 2 seasons?

even that, Rockets were not screwed.

It all depends on the China vote, like Yao.

I keep seeing the Kelvin Cato comparisons.

But its only on the YEARLY salary amount. The killer with the Cato contract and others like it was the LENGTH. SIX GUARANTEED years of Kelvin Cato, does it matter the price?

Compared to 3 years with Lin and Asik. Goran Dragic was let go cuz he wanted a 4TH year player option. Sure WISH that's all the Rockets had with Cato lol.

So the NBA is "kinda" learning.

As far as Lin's possible All Star votes, its still all about WINNING. Even with the Asian vote help, he can't just put up big empty numbers with no results. He doesnt have the Steve Francis highlight athleticism for the fancy vote.

Though Manu Ginobili forever gets LITTLE All-Star votes, and he's top 3-5 shooting guard every year. So who knows.

Yao was an ALLSTAR. Dude was an 20-10 a night. Sure his first year starting over shaq was a joke, but he deserved the rest.

To add, I think all this offseason drama is a bit of "blemish" on Lin's image. The longer it drags out, the less "novelty" he'll be seen as.

After everything subsides, Lin has PRESSURE to live up to his next contract. And he needs to do a bit of good PR damage control to be LINSANITY again. I do think "Linsanity" is a NEW YORK function, not a Houston one. He'll have to lean HEAVILY on another storyline to get that kind of mass approval. No one's gonna care about Lin coming in to tank and win 30 games at most.

    I agree.

Yao was a legit all-star the years he could play. Especially since there were no other centers.

PG is stacked though, good luck getting in as a PG in both conferences.

There definitely IS A chance. Its if you connect the trends with Yao to Lin.

Yao was voted an All Star EVERY YEAR, except '10 when he didnt play.

Yao his last year when he played just 5 games was voted in as a starter. Freaking Shane Battier used to be 5th in votes for forwards.

I think Lin in the West with the Rockets and game in Houston is at least a darkhorse, but probably wont get higher than #3 in votes at most cuz the West is that loaded. He MAY can get in as a token All-Star replacement alternate.

Maybe since they usually try to have one All-Star from the home city. So if we don't have Dwight, he may be brought in as an alternate.

China certainly seemed to embrace Lin as one of their own last year during Linsanity. It is very possible that they give him the votes needed to be a starter no matter where he ends up.
