I hope he's not tiring himself out doing all these commercials lately. He flew to New York after the magic game to shoot a commerical for Visa while the team travelled to Atlanta.

Too many commercials for Yao now are not good for the Rox team.
He needs some rest between the games.

I would rather Yao fly around doing commercials than movie stars running around doing commercials.

With his performance and marketability, does anyone still want to draft J. Williams?

Let's he how he does it after shooting his commericals.

He came back from LA and the team beat the wolves. So that's 1-0. Hopefully he can start the commerical win streak with 2-0 with a win at atlanta.

Actaully I think Yao's commercial will help Rocket's with its name recognition, and hence help build buzz for it. It always good for Rox that Ming establish himself as a super-star, media exposure(like TV commercial) is a important part of that. BTW, why VISA choose Ming to do the commercial? I only remember Seinfield does the VISA commerical. What kind of perople(quality) shows up for VISA?

Yao come across as a good image for someone who wants to do global commerce. He's gonna stick with the fortune 100, the hi tech, wireless, financial stuff. You're not gonna see him promote any soft drinks. :)

Why doesn't bring his "luck" to other suffering companies?

He should do ads for WorldCom and Enron!!!!!!

They're image will surely turn around :D .

    Maybe he can help Ottawa....

Anyway, I will bet anyone there will be a Milk ad within a few weeks (if not already done!!!).

hmmm, Yao apparently will start all-star game and a rush is made to shoot some commercials. Makes me think there will be some kind of advertising blitz during all-star game.

Can't wait to see the visa ad. Maybe visa will team up Yao and Zhang Ziyi for another 'crouching tiger' spot. hehe that would be funny.

All this hype for Yao Ming is so sweet, and brings a lot of attention not only to himself but the Rockets and Houston aswell. It's unfortunate but a lot of fans and media hold the players in ads, on tv highlights or who play in big markets to a higher regard than the soft spoken players who don't seek the limelight. Like our gentle giant Hakeem was never given the proper credit he deserved from a national standpoint as one of the greatest players of all time, who brought so much to the game.

Nuh. The commercial is mainly for Yao's own good (Financially), and might be good for David Stern to promote the game as well.
As for the Rockets, they have already had a great name
recognizion since they drafted Yao. Yao's help for them to win more games or, to say, Championship will do good for them.

Just wondering what source the Visa commercial came from? Was it newspaper, magazine, internet, etc....

The Hakeem/Pippen Visa commercial is still a classic, imo.

I wonder how much is Yao making from those commercials. Each probably takes only a day for the filming. Does the Rox franchise get anything in return?

The visa commerical info is from a report Yao did after the magic game. Yao team turned down half a dozen other endorsement deals in another report.
