No, it's not. Martin is superior to Varejao, because he's expiring and Anderson is not. The Toronto pick is superior to anything in the Cleveland package, because it's lottery and Cleveland's most likely are not. Lamb is every bit the prospect, if not more, than Tristan Thompson. It's not that similar at all.

    Standard negotiating tactics:

Orl uses Brooklyn's sorry package as leverage, Morey counter offers barely above that, probably Martin, Tor pick, Dallas pick, Patterson, Lamb, take on 2 bad contracts.

Brooklyn falls out of the running. Morey pulls his offer, lowballs with Martin, Tor pick, Morris, Jones, take on 1 bad contract. Tells Orlando go find a better offer to come back with, otherwise take it or leave it.

Orlando finds Cleveland's sorry package. Morey ups his offer to barely beat that, probably Martin, Tor pick, Dallas pick, Morris, Patterson or Lamb, takes on 2 bad contracts.

    Martin's expiring >>> Varejao's 2 years left
    Patterson or Lamb > Thompson
    Morris = Zeller
Dallas pick = what ever pick they offer
Tor pick >>>>>>>>>>> anything they can offer besides Irving

    Game over.

    Makes sense. Good analysis.

Hope it's true for our sake. In Morey we trust

I think a lot of us are at the point where we just don't give a f***.

This thing has gone on way too damn long. Dwight Howard's reputation has taken a huge hit, rightfully so. He could have been a Net if he had just let his contract expire after the season instead of blowing smoke up Orlando's ass. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Howard on this team as our star player but we shouldn't have to jump through flaming hoops to make it happen.

If we get him, fine. If we don't, fine. It sucked letting Luis go but it has cleared up cap and we can rebuild sooner than later, even though we should have done this the second we knew Yao wouldn't be back.

    Is Sam amico reliable?

I think it's funny that they say talks are "real" but Cleveland isn't even "thinking about it" yet. So dumb

Nothing really new here but whatever...

    [rquoter]CONTRACT FACTS AND FIGURES . . .

There's another reason why Howard wants to join the Nets sooner than later. Any team that acquires him before the 2012-13 season's trade deadline and keeps him through the end of the season will own Howard's "Bird rights" when Howard is scheduled to become a free agent in July 2013. That team will be able to offer him a five-year deal worth a total of almost $117 million, according to salary-cap expert Larry Coon. Any other team bidding on him in free agency would, at most, be able to offer Howard only a four-year deal worth about $86.8 million. To be sure, the differences between a four-year contract and a five-year contract can be overstated. But after his back injury, Howard now might be more interested in the additional security that a five-year contract can provide.[/rquoter]

FSN Ohio. Guess he's about as reliable as Kevin Eschenfelder? Not sure.

SIGH... and YET AGAIN, no one of "reputable"-upper class sources (ESPN doesn't count) is reporting this!

Did a search on Yahoo! Front Page and Top 10 Stories that are trending, and NOTHING about Cavs/Lakers/Magic trade!

You are waaaayyyy too focused on picks. Luke Walton is a known commodity on an expiring contract that could easily be flipped for Hedo. There's alot more to what can happen in the Dwightmare than draft picks.

It's funny how Orlando can ask for all that they have no leverage since Dwight won't say who he will sign the extension with....I hope Morey just moves on

Morey should just wait this out if he really thinks his is the best offer. What's the Magic gonna do, take a crummier offer just to say FU to Morey? Drag this out to the trade deadline where they'll really start sharting in their pants? If this drags deep into the season, the less Morey should offer IMO.

I agree with this. It gives a chance to see our youth play and also to see how Howard plays after back surgery.
