Sage died of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 36. Sylvester is said to be totally devastated. I feel bad for Sylvester as he has entertained us all so much throughout the years. It is much too young to lose a son. Sage was in a few Rocky films playing the son...as well as other films. Word is he was close to getting married. RIP
That's terrible. First Travolta's kid, now this. Something about exposure to fame at a young age coupled with a giant shadow to live under must wreck these guy's heads.
I'm not "saying", but just saying, these kids come from fame, they have no jobs and plenty of money...again, no job and money; what are you gonna do all day? Spoiled with no ambition so the gateway are pills/alcohol in the social circuit (I'm seeing friends go through this now). Just sad to read, and their selfishness now hangs on their families heads for life.
In a broader sense it might be their parents' fault for not keeping them grounded. Maybe live in remote Europe or pull a Jeff Daniels and commute from Michigan, just keep them away from fans, crowds or the media so they don't get that weird sense of entitlement or invincibility. Obviously, though, by 36 your actions and outlook on life are your own.
I think it's a little presumptuous to assume he was living off Sly's money and reputation. By the sound of it, he tried to carve his own name in the industry. He co-founded Grindhouse Releasing, which was responsible for restoring forgotten Italian horror films of the 70s and 80s ....also looks like he did some indie work and a little acting as well as formed a band under an alias.
Now why did you have to go and interrupt them making their own uninformed assumptions and playing amateur psychologist? That was entertaining. Seriously though, RIP to Sage. That is WAY too young to go and I'm sure he had plenty left to offer the world.
Meanwhile, Colin Hanks has forged a nice little career for himself. Hard to imagine coming from more fame than being the son of Tom Hanks.
