Neither. He may be uber smart or a genius with numbers and business sense, but in the context of basketball he is far from being one.

He is not a mad scientist either because he is not mad, rather, he has no basketball sense and what he is doing or had done that is basketball related do not come close to being science.
I still cannot fathom the worship of a GM who has not proven anything in his five years with the Rockets. He talks a good game but folks here understand that talking and doing are totally different things.

However, he is doing one thing now that he said he would do before, that the Rockets would be predatory. Although it is a matter of some luck that the Howard situation has put the Magic in a corner and here comes Morey being opportunistic. If Howard comes to Houston and stays, then it would be a great. Although it remains to be seen if the price for Howard's acquisition would be so steep that it would be difficult for the Rockets to overcome in the coming years, even with Howard on the team.

If Howard leaves after a year, and the team was gutted and picks given up for the trade, then the implications would be terrible for years to come. If this happens, Morey would be working his magic potion in another team getting paid and worshipped by his fans, while the Rockets fans and the city are left holding a bag riddled with holes.

We are not even considering the possibility of Howard's back affecting his play and/or his playing time.

If I were Les, I would go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and walk on the Via Dolorosa, pray at the Wailing Wall and offer written petitions for the Rockets, go to the Dalai Lama for his blessing and pray with Imams in a New York Mosque, light hundreds of incense in a Buddhist temple, and make animal sacrifices to all the gods. He will need a lot of divine intervention to help him and the Rockets if he approves this Morey move.

This would really be a very interesting offseason.

He's neither. He's just a smart guy who understands that you need superstars to win it and he's going all in for a superstar.

So far neither, he is all talk and turnover. I am still waiting for meaningful results. It appears that he has bet the farm on one roll of the dice. And even if he wins, he may still loose. It must be exciting to play with other peoples money. He could then walk away and we would be stuck with the outcomes. Think about it.

Absolutely not the fans. The fans are the customers - fans have a right to be upset at the product on the floor. You're right - Morey has a job, has an objective and is trying to accomplish it. But so far it hasn't been good enough. In the real world, if you can't accomplish you're objectives, you eventually lose your job. Even if you try really really really hard.
