I picked Center and SG but really any great post/wing combination is idea IMO.

Second best would be two dominant post players.

I don't know why SG/SF is not an option. Works for Jordan and Lebron.

It all depends on how well the players in question complement each other, but I picked C and PG (assuming Dwight and CP3) For one, the pick-and-roll with a mobile center and a guard who can penetrate, shoot, or hit the open shooter on the double is the most devastating combo in the game.

Besides, I feel like those are the two positions where your team gets the most benefit from having an elite player versus an average one. Serviceable SGs, SFs, and PFs are not hard to find.

    Center+half court execution.

With Dwight Howard, the best bet is to play the Van Gundy/Riley style of uglyball. I hate this style to death, but it's the most logical style to play when you have probably the highest impacting defensive player in the NBA today. So any player that can execute in the half court. Whether it's a distributor like CP3 or scoring wing like Melo, as long as we can execute half court offense affectively, it will be a contending team.

That said, I don't like PF/C combo in today's NBA. You need perimter scorer(s).

Hakeem and Clyde at SF (I consider Mario to be a 2 on the 95 championship roster).

Didn't McGrady play a bunch of 3 when JVG was here?

PG C would be. Dwight with either CP3 or DWill would be amazing.

The 1st option would have got more votes if you use "Magic-Jabber" as an example instead of "Yao-Francis"

C/PG, but it's so rare to see a team have their two best players at those two positions. They could run crazy pick and rolls, the PG hits the Center when he gets post position (Rockets fans appreciate how few players can make a decent post pass), center is there for the dump off after PG penetration, and point guard is there for the outside shot when center is double teamed. No wonder DH12 wants to play with an elite point guard.

I'd say SG/SF is maybe the worst since there is very little synergy (obviously MJ/PiP and Wade/Bron are great but I think that's not because of their position, it's despite...which speaks to their greatness), PG/SG also lacks synergy. Basically, you want either a big and little, or two bigs.
