Yeah, that's what I meant, that the effective salary would be that high with the cap hit.

yeah, but New York actually has an incentive to make sure Howard goes to Houston vs. a team like Atlanta. They want him out of the Eastern conference. Would think they would want us to get the Howard deal done ASAP.

15 mil to Lin, another 20mil+ to the league per luxury tax. Easy money for Morey and the Rockets. Huge troll move, I love it.

Lin gives the Rockets another Chinese "star" to market for $8 mil a year.

Camby and Kidd will probably add another 8.5-9 mil....so they would be about 90 million for 7 players.

The money was pretty much even with Pho, if Dragic would have actually WANTED to be here instead of there, I am sure Morey could have made it happen.

People need to get it through their heads: Dragic did not leave because we didn't offer him enough - he left because he WANTED to be Nash's successor in phoenix, it is as simple as that.

I attempted to compare the impact on New York to Kobe's salary so that people could grasp what a blow that is to the Knicks franchise. That's major damage.

Unfortunately, it may turn out the same way. Beltran had a hall of fame playoffs, but never equalled that hot streak again. Linn was on fire for a month, but with the coaching change and nagging injuries he declined.

Only is you think of him as a star already - I don't - only a flash in the pan. We'll hav to see how long the flash lasts I guess.

    Howard Beck ‏@HowardBeckNYT
Expect Knicks to take full 3 days to match. Standard operating procedure in NBA to make the other team wait, tie up their cap.

I think he is a star but I do not think he is a good basketball player. I also think that he is American and not Chinese. But what do I know? I can't keep up with the internet these days.

Also forgetting that they have Camby and Kidd at 4.4 million and 3 million. It might actually be more than that because not all contracts spread the amount evenly. So even if they cut Shumpert (good young talent and relatively good contract) that puts them at 70.4 million without Lin. If they only keep those 6 players plus Lin and sign nobody else, it puts them at 85 million... so yeah, 52.5 million dollars in luxury tax. Small market teams around the league are praising Morey for putting free money in their pockets in 3 years.
