Relax, Marc Stein's trade is NOT going to happen. The article states, "Sources say that the Rockets would have to send Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris and Chandler Parsons to the Magic from their current roster to make the salary-cap math work." I don't think they are taking into account all the expiring contracts we've received from the Knicks. Kevin Martin + NYK Players = $20M of salary cap space. After we give them picks and PPatt, we should be able to make it work.

Turkey Glue is no longer being mentioned in the deal.

Game of chess is what Morey like to play....

    Patience...

Pressure will build on Magic to trade Dwight,,,,

we have he best picks and can absorb bad contracts...

Way TOO much to give up for a player who isn't going back to Orlando anyway. This is bullcrap. We're essentially swapping freaking teams. Giving up ALL of our rookies AND future draft picks?..For a potential rental at that?

So what flexibility do we have after we mortgage our future for DH? Our we some sort of contender now?

    This is BS.

So again, why would Dwight stay he basically just switched cities but is playing with the same players? And has the same salary issues where the team is tied up and unable to make moves or doesn't have any picks to bring in any youngsters?

At first I was against the who DH thing. Then I was ok but don’t get back any bad contracts in case (more likely for when) he bails. Time passes. Then I said ok we can take a couple of bad contracts but don’t give up more than we could get for the player(s) we might end up with after flipping Dwight. Now I’m just numb and going to my happy place. Like a prison rape, there is nothing we can do about it.

This is a rebuild with the star you wanted. You all said the draft was a gamble. Free up cash and sign or trade for the player. The obvious problem is max players will get always matched – always. Tier 2 players will get max money and that will get matched – almost always. FA is where you go to get filler contracts and good role players. You don’t go shopping here to get max foundational players unless your city or team has a drawing card which we don’t. And Les and most of the fans didn’t want to wait it out picking in the draft for that foundation piece. So this is the 1 rare shot you have of picking up a top star because they are disgruntled. The bottom line is you still have to overpay when doing this way.

And by the way, Dwight is in no way signing an extension before the trade. He doesn’t want to come here and the fact that we are giving up the farm probably make him want to stay here even less.

Your Houston Magic/Rocket team will look like this:

Howard, Asik (?), Smith, Jordan, Brockman
    Davis, Leuer, Motiejunas, Harrellson
    Turkoglu, Forbes
    Richardson, Lee (?)
    Douglas, Duhon, Livingston, Fortson, Machado

Make some cuts and sign a FA or 2 to fill in some holes and this is what you have left to talk Dwight into staying.

But on the bright side. There isn’t a sure thing in anything we are trading.

As far as who we lose:
Scola – love him but he just didn’t fit the rebuild plans either way. Good luck wherever you end up.
Martin – IMO – good riddance
    Patterson – too soft
Morris – not sure he was ever going to be more than a rotation player.
Parsons – he’s a 2nd round pick who shined from an open position on a mediocre team. He became a fan favorite. He might be the best keeper of the bunch but he might also be a flash in the pan.
Lamb, White, Jones – all unknown but mid-round picks. There might be a couple of good rotation players in there and maybe even starters by default but basically right now they are magic beans.
There isn’t any talk of the draft picks but I assume that we are also throwing in the Toronto pick and Dallas pick. More magic beans.

And remember, all that trading on draft night was so we could get a pick that we could trade for Dwight. You should be happy that we were able to get it done with 12, 16 and 18.

So we look like we are giving up the farm but we really are giving the Magic some rotation players and magic beans for their disgruntled star with the dreams that we can talk him into staying. Who will come out on top? Dreamers or those with the magic beans?

Be happy Houston fans – this is what most of you wanted.

If he signs an extension, we can bring in Paul/Smith. If he walks, we suck and have a high draft pick. Two years from now the contracts expire, we have a high lotto pick and a **** ton of cap room.

Or we could just keep what we have and hope the #12 pick in the draft turns into Kobe. Like its been stated, you have to have a superstar to lure superstars. You gotta spend money to make money.

There are so many possibilities for the combination of players that are going to be involved in the deal that it is almost pointless to speculate. I am not believing anything until Woj tweets the done deal.

What a horrible thread title. Where does it say OFFER SUBMITTED? It says Rockets WOULD HAVE TO make that offer. Thats just an opinion. Doesnt mean thats what Morey has offered.

If that information is correct, horrible, horrible deal. Not a Morey fan, but surely he is not that stupid. You give up your present team and your future team for last year's Magic. That is insane.

I had to chuckle at this...

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>RT @<a href="https://twitter.com/Hoopisms">Hoopisms</a>: Wouldn't it be easier for everyone involved if Morey and Hennigan just swapped jobs?</p>&mdash; Michael Pina (@ShakyAnkles) <a href="https://twitter.com/ShakyAnkles/status/223777674504585216" data-datetime="2012-07-13T13:55:29+00:00">July 13, 2012</a></blockquote>
