My belief is that representative of Adidas straight up and told Dwight, "we want you in New York, if you go there you will get Derrick Rose's contract, if you don't you will not." Numbers probably weren't discussed, and Dwight is too much of a meatwad to think it through any further than that.
Its not about just shoe deals. The local endorsement deals in NY are worth millions. I talked to an Nike(golf) exec about this subject. He told me that in NY, you get an easy half million to promote a local business and there are lots of them.
