Right, that's why I said "the way the Heat did". But I think it's a moot point. There's no reason to amnesty Scola right NOW if we're not taking back at least one bad contract in the deal.
It's on like donkey kong.... CP3 and Dwight next year! That would be awesome.... If the trades goes though for Dwight and the bad contracts and we can get cp3 next year , that would be amazing
They tried. Example: They were close to doing a deal for cap relief with Nets just before free agency ended. The well was running dry, and maybe his contract was just too hefty to make it worth for it any team.
They actually haven't signed a offer sheet yet. If the press is to be believed, they came to terms and agreed to sign one, but that offer has not been made as of yet.
John Denton @JohnDenton555 #Magic GM Rob Hennigan on Scola amnesty: "I don’t think (it makes a trade more likely) to any degree. I don’t think there’s a correlation." #Magic GM Rob Hennigan: ``We’ve had talks with a few teams, but nothing specific. It’s been pretty quiet today.’’ #Magic GM Rob Hennigan when asked if any trade was imminent: ``Dinner is imminent.’’ When asked if he had been informed that Dwight Howard still wanted a trade, #Magic GM Rob Hennigan said: "That’s not necessarily true.’’
You're truly one of the hardest working guys on this board. I do appreciate your work for the bbs. I can't rep you enough.
Cool, so I guess this means Dwight can get McHale/Morey canned next year. Why would we just surround him with the same players he DOESN'T want to be around? I just don't get how this makes Houston desirable.
Meh. Look at it this way, we either get Dwight Howard or we finally start the re-building process. Isn't this what the majority of the bbs has been asking for the last couple of years? Now that we are finally getting to the point where we clearly have one of two destinies, many fans seem mad. Initially I was mad, but now that I am seeing the bigger picture, this a whole lot better. I love our role players, but I'm glad we are finally picking a direction rather than being stuck in the middle.
He's 30 years old. I think Morey will school him though. He has no leverage. He have enough of everything he wants but we don't have to do ****! We can tank. He can't just NOT trade Howard.
Is there a reason why Scola couldn't be traded for picks instead of amnestied? Seems like we're getting nothing for losing him other than clearing cap space. I'd like to think Scola's value is worth at least a 2nd round pick or two. Maybe a first to some of these dumb GMs.
Because we will have the cap space next offseason to actually sign Max players and The Magic can't do that.
