I hope Michelle Branch wins best new artist but she doesn't get as much pub as the poser who I think will win it.

Don't forget about Jan Arden and the Ennis Sisters. I don't like either but they sound absolutely nothing like Avril Lavigne, who I like.

Christina does have a great voice but much like mariah carey it's been wasted on bubblegum pop and c-grade r&b lyrics.

I do like a lot of mainstream stuff, provided that the music and lyrics are written and performed by the bandmembers.

Avril Lavigne was manufactured and groomed to be the anti-britney. Her emergence wasn't a coincidence, demographics and surveys showed a record company exec that the time was right to bring out a teen rocker who wasn't "fake". Amazingly enough her first single was about not being fake. One of two things will happen with her career. Either she'll be used by record companies as a cash cow till her profitability runs out or she'll develop into a real musician and make records that possibly won't sell 20 million copies to teen america.

These are just my opinions, to each their own. I personally enjoy more of the Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, and Stabbing Westward type of music so obviously I'm biased against most of the grammy artists.

Imagine Avril screaming, and Alanis Screaming.

I swear they would sound alike.

    Canadian Popstars are manufactured.

They come from a place called the Canadian Pop Star Maker Centre.

The French Canadian Popstars come from the
le Canadian Pop Star Maker Centre.

As opposed to American *pop stars*, who are real? Wow! This is news. Michael Jackson is a real American?! Do you have a nose like that too Kam? ;)

Btw, your French spelling needs work. *Y’all* could use some help with your English spelling too. ;)

    Britney Spears is real.

    Real Crappy.

Michael Jackson is from Gary, Indiana.
Those aren't Americans. Those are harden criminals.
If Michael Jackson is from some place, it is from a different planet.

    I use Y'all, eh?

    Any other posters use Y'all?

    eh?

The most important things to remember are :

    1) The music always "used to be better".
    2) Most music "nowadays" suck.
    3) Anything with popular appeal sucks.
    4) You will feel cool about yourself if you believe the first 3.

    ;)

True. I just find it hard to believe that one day someone will say, "What ever happened to guys like Lil Bow Wow? Now that was when music was music."

    Bow Wow's movie rocked.

Probably my favorite basketball movie behind Hoosiers, and Air Bud: K-9 Baller. That movie is so good, I forgot the name.

i used to think the lyrics used to be better. but then i heard a few terrible songs. mostly dutch terrible songs.now i do not hink it anymore.
the one thing i do hate now a day, is that alot of trance songs are covers, almost nothing is original.
i do not dislike popular music. i like the music of avril lavigne.
