Morey is desperate to make a deal, that is obvious, but won't do it at all cost or else we would've had Howard already. I really wonder what kind of package Morey is offering. It must be like 3-4 picks, Jones & either Lamb / White, Martin & 1 other forward and maybe another guard.

Biggest issue I think Morey is facing is taking on too many bad contracts to sign Howard.

If he has a bunch of salary cap eating contracts with Howard he loses the flexibility to resign Howard because there is no incentive for Howard to be here if Howard has the same bad cast around him.

Why would Howard want to play with 3 of the same stiffs he has in Orlando?

Morey needs the Lakers to take some of the contracts with Howard and send us Bynum while retaining roster room for a run at a Chris Paul or other player next offseason.

If we end up without flexibility next offseason we don't have much leverage to persuade Howard to stay here.

I don't see how you feel Orlando is not desperate to deal him. If they don't deal him he walks and they get nothing in return for a franchise player. That is not only bad for the team's building capabilities, but also the PR with their fans.

Orlando knows there is a chance he is not going to be 100% off back surgery. They know they better trade him while his stock is still high. He is not going to come back better than he has already shown. Best trade him before any doubt is shown in his abilities. They ARE in fact desperate to deal him, but I say that desperation is not as in this week. More by season start IMO.

Could we please just see what Jerome Jordan and Greg Smith and all the other youngsters can do?

I wish I had as much faith in the draft method as you do, but I don't see a Howard or Bynum level talent coming down that pipeline anytime soon.

I know that logically Bynum should cost less than Dwight (in terms of trade cost) but he really can't. LA has no 1st round picks to trade because of the Nash trade.

A three way trade between ORL-HOU-LA is basically HOU trading for Dwight and then trading him to LA for Bynum. We might be able to get away with taking on one less contract or so, but we will still have to give up the prospects/picks in the deal.

    Why?

Because I agreed with what Aruba said. Are you mad I did not quote your post or something?

I dont understand why you are questioning me or what you dont understand about my post. It is self explanatory.

A fair point. Perhaps a 4th team enters the fray to soften the blow to the Rockets?

I'm not sold on a draft method either. But Bynum seems like another lousy stopgap.

Dude we got like 6 months left on this planet before it ends! Lol

Do you really want to spend your last days watchin us get destroyed or would you rather spend them watching Dwight Howard dominate!!

Moray believes in 2012 that's why he isn't worried about an extension!!!

I tell you what would be a kick in the pants for Les...amnesty Scola for the trade and then Orlando backs out. Now we are way below the minimum and will have to sign some stiffs to a 1 year overpaid amount AND pay Scola's salary for a team that may not win 25 games.

Always possible I suppose. Too convoluted to even speculate. 3 team trades are hard to make work though. Four team deals are VERY difficult. What is a fourth team getting that they want to participate? No team is just going to volunteer to take back a contract from Orlando (example) to help us out. We'd have to send them something. Anything we send them reduces what we can send Orlando.

I don't know though, maybe a team wants JRich. He still brings pretty good offense to the table. Maybe you could get a team to take him.

But if it was going to make a super team in brooklyn there would be 5 teams ready to facilitate a trade... Smh!

Even with taking some of Orlando's garbage, Rockets won't be in cap hell if they trade or amnesty Scola. I expect Rockets will have two prospective PFs left in DMo and White. I expect Patterson will be the veteran PF. Parsons and Morris should be fine at SF. I expect there is a chance the Rockets escape with either Martin or Lamb. Douglas and JRich would be okay backups there. PG looks to be only concern, but Llull is coming next year.

Well, as we found out, there really weren't. Teams were talked about helping but no one really stepped up to the plate. And they were only interested in helping because they saw a chance to grab something of value in their eyes (MBrooks.) We could get a 4th team to help I'm sure if we send another prospect out. But then, that doesn't make Bynum any cheaper.

They still have time. Plus the worst case scenario for them is a sign-n-trade in the end. There is more pressure on them not looking like they got fleeced than anything else.

If they were desperate, they would have dealt Howard to the Nets. They did not. THey have multiple teams to work with here. 5 or 6 in fact.

We have dumped a pretty big chunk of our team to make cap space for ONE PLAYER who the entire NBA knows we want really bad. We don't have any real alternative.

    Dude, we are desperate.

The only question is how much are we desperate and will Morey be forced to get Howard at any cost at the end of the day. Orlando apparently thinks they can get more and are holding out.

If a deal happens I think we end up taking Duhon/QRich/JRich back and end up with something like this:

    Duhon/Douglas/maybe fa like Brooks?
    JRich/Lamb
    Parsons/QRich
    Patterson/Donuts
    Dwight

with guys like Leur (spelling?) and Harrellson still on the team.

Are you kidding me? We have a chance to get the best center in the world and you're talking about Jerome Jordan and Greg Smith

And destroy his market value to sign a new contract. What is Dwight's motivation? If it was winning or playing where he wanted mostly, he would not have opted in for this season. If it was money, he would try his hardest to get to NY or LA so they can sign him to Bird Max and get the best shoe deal possible. He is doing that so his primary concern appears to be money.

Faking nagging injury hurts his money option and his PR. I think he will work hard to get good PR after he signs next contract. Good PR equals more money in endorsements....ask Tiger about that one.
