If we get one of these two guys, Howard or Bynum, we will have two front line 7 footers with Monty. All of whom can ball. Any of that will be fun with our new rookies.

You're probably right since Dwight is a rare talent, so in most cases I would agree with you. But in this situation I kind of feel the trust between Dwight and Orlando has been lost. I think since they already fired their coach and he still wants to leave, and they know they'll get NATHaN if he leaves they'll trade him. I think since Orlando's new GM came fron the OKC school of doing things he wants to build his own superteam.

If he signs a max-year deal in Orlando, he really will have no leverage to say anything. He would have signed the deal, therefore he would have to live with the decision. At a certain point, his public image HAS to start coming into play here. It's already taken a TREMENDOUS hit.....I doubt Dan Fegan and his PR rep would allow him to continue to make a fool out of himself to the public.

When he stops playing hard after he gets his new deal, you'll understand.

You must have thought Erick Dampier's 7 year 73 million dollar contract was a good deal too.

We'll see. I completely disagree with you, though.

I just thought of something sinister Howard could do to increase his leverage unless I am missing something about the CBA...

If Howard managed to challenge the legality of his opt-in, he could become a free agent. This allows him to gain the leverage of the threat that he could sign with X under the cap team. Let's use Atlanta as the most likely threat. He can then make the immediate and credible threat that either Orlando S&Ts him to Brooklyn for scraps or he will sign for less money in Atlanta.

How is this threat any more credible than him saying he won't sign an extension with X team that he is traded to? Immediacy. Orlando risks getting nothing for him. Hell, maybe he can even win a legal battle that gives him the RIGHT, but not obligation to void his contract with Orlando. Then Howard can make all sorts of threats based on who the potential suitors are.

Im sorry but dwight is a very stupid individual. all this drama wouldve been avoided if he gets traded to whatever team this last season and then he can sign with whatever damn team he wants.

He already talked to the Player Association about challenging the legality of the opt in. He has no case. If he had a case, he would have pursued it already.

Erick Dampier was never worth it. But big men get paid alot more. It's just the way the game works. You pay a great QB alot more than you pay a great RB.

There's a reason there are so many stiffs with big contracts in the NBA. I personally don't think Bynum is worth a max contract but I completely understand why that would be his value.

So we're doing Donte Greene v2.0...that makes sense.

Starting to think I'd rather have Bynum over Howard though. Bynum actually wants to be here and has a much more polished offensive game. If we need the defense/6 fouls then we have Asik.

I think his case is crap as well, and I would think it is too late anyway since free agency has started. Just thinking of all the ways we could lose out on the #2 impact player in the league.

If Chicago matches the offer sheet for Asik, that would be two NBA teams that think he is worth that money. I'll take those two opinions over yours any day. Bynum worth only 7 million? You do realize that Dalembert got paid 6.7 million? You honestly believe, monetarily, that Dalembert to Bynum is a lateral move?

Apparently Bynum is worth less than Scola and Martin as well.

It was greed more than stupidity. Dwight wanted his cake and eat it too. This is the main answer to all those question why we would even want him if he doesn't want to be here. If he was 100% committed to playing Brooklyn no matter what, he'd ditch the extra year/dollars. Instead, he got cocky and tried to buy time by opting in to see if the Magic could work a deal with the Nets.

Do you think Bynum is a franchise player?
