Two words: Milli Vanilli I don't have a problem with any of these even though there are some other worthy candidates. Home was the best country record by far. Eminem is pretty unique. Nelly's record is actually good and I'm not a big rap fan. Norah Jones is the token artsy newcomer. She probably won't win anything, but her record is very deserving. Springsteen, even though I'm not a big fan of his, will probably share most honors with the Chicks in a number of categories. His record is good. Avril? That's a bad pick. Jones & Springsteen are the cream of this crop, but I like the Carlton song, personally. This is traditionally a wierd category. It dates back to when they released singles as a matter of common practice. It is usually a little wierder than song of the year. I'm ok with most of them though that Nickelback song is not really their best. They could have taken that Chad Kroeger song from the Spiderman soundtrack instead. It's cheesy but what would the Grammys be without some cheese? Overall, as usual, a really bland and basically lame list. The Grammys have always been bad. I'm just hoping for another non-sensical tirade by the NARAS Pres about how everyone who downloads is a theif. Nothing like a tux-wearing, record company ass-kissing lackie telling poor music fans how much they suck for being innovative. Aye!
damnit I just used a Milli Vanilli joke Jeff, and here you are having typed it a few minutes before me.
Im glad to see a Metal Category. I hope Stone Sour wins that category...I don't agree with some of the nominees being metal, but I'm glad to see the category...BTW, I hope Josey Scott and Chad Kroger(sp?) win some awards for 'Hero'. I just love that song.
Ok, can someone please explain to me what the difference is between ALBUM of the year and RECORD of the year? Seriously...i have no clue.
Field 1 - Pop Category 7 - Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (For established duos or groups, with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.) • Girl All The Bad Guys Want Bowling For Soup Track from: Drunk Enough To Dance [Jive Records] HOLY CRAP.
Did anyone see when he was on Howard Stern and he pulled out this knife and started waving it around?
I thought a couple of years back he was robbed by not getting a nomination, for Air Bull, but I was certain Ming Thing was in there. Why watch, its all fixed.
Why does anyone even put stock in the Grammies? It's essentially the music industry rewarding those who have made them the most money (except maybe in the more obscure catergories). Each year, the same hacks get nominated while the really interesting music remains unheralded. The funny thing is, it usually takes time (decades sometimes) to determine whether music is really valid. That's why I prefer "best of (insert decade or century) lists" AT least then you know people have actually listened to the music more than once.
