Yao Ming is great and he'll be the best center soon but Shaq will crush him. Yao doesnt have the strength to keep up with him and everybody will see it. I just wish they wouldnt show it becuase hes going to get killed.

Shaq is great and much stronger. But Yao will not get killed. As ppl have mentioned on this board, Yao seems to play better in big games anyways.

Well, if you're a casual basketball fan, would you rather see Shaq vs. Ming or that epic Zydrunas Ilgauskas vs. Nene Hilario matchup on the 17th?

Makman I guess you don't realize that people around the nation love Yao. I mean he was voted to the all-star game, remember?? Its one of the best centers ever versus the up and coming big man who wouldn't want to see that?

Ive watched every rocket game except 4 this year and from what ive sen, Yao does better against centers "like" Shaq. Although there is no center quite "like Shaq," Yao seems to play a lot better against the slower, stronger, bulkier, less mobile centers. The smaller/quicker centers give him more problems. I dont think Yao will outplay shaq, but i doubt he will be dominated liek everyone seems to think.

WOW You are the only one that noticed that Shaq is bigger, stronger and more experienced than Yao...brilliant!

I would have thought that Yao or Rudy or maybe EVERY NBA FAN IN AMERICA would've noticed it, but they let one slip by and you picked right up on it.

Talking about Yao matched up with Shaq, everybody seems to worry about that Yao will be destroyed by Shaq except Yao himself. Can anybody explain to me why?

Because he is a professional athlete and no professional would admit self defeat before a matchup.

Ming will step his game up, but he's never faced someone like shaq ever!!!! As long as the rockets can compete and maybe win, i'm cool. I would like to see them establish Ming early to try to get shaq in foul trouble. If he doesn't, it will be a long night for Ming.

This game surely has the potential to be the highest rating NBA regular season game. What's the previous record BTW?

It looks like Yao could perform better than what we thought. Look at his comments below:

"Every problem has to be faced," Yao said. "That's going to be a very important game for me. I'm not going to be looking at it as a normal game. I'm going to look at it as a more important game."

    Why show Yao v Shaq?

Cos' violence, blood and large-scale destruction are always good for ratings.

everyone likes seeing the "changing of the guard" games (tho in this case it might be changing of the centre;)). when we schooled orlando, you could see shaq was going to be the next big thing (and i don't mean by his weight/size). This game is the rematch of that game/series, but one generation on, with the roles reversed. An interesting irony lost on a few people.
