[ClutchFans] Rockets trade Lowry, stay focused on Howard

Actually, he criticized the players NOH was getting from HOU in the trade. That was the main reason he blocked it.

 

This is my worst fear for this franchise right now...that all the criticisms and the pressure to do something will lead them to doing something like this that is just enough to insure we're picking around #14 again next season. That would be an utter waste at this point.

 

This is the most short-sighted view, and people keep throwing it out there. Daryl Morey is the same guy that's found diamond-in-the-rough PGs Kyle Lowry, Goran Dragic and Aaron Brooks with extremely limited resources, but he won't be able to replicate the 11.9 points and 5.7 assists of an aging Jameer Nelson?

It's completely and utterly pointless to worry about the "balance" of the roster in July. Morey could pick up the phone and swap most of those forwards for guards and centers in about 5 minutes, if he wanted to. The fact is, it's July 7 and there's almost an entire offseason to go, so what's the rush? It makes a lot more sense to take and keep the best players available, regardless of position, and see if bigger deals can be made.

I've said it in other threads, but this is a possible Houston roster if Dwight is acquired:

C: Howard/Asik
PF: Scola/Motiejunas/White
SF: Parsons/White/Richardson
SG: Lee/Richardson
PG: Brooks/Livingston

Anyone who doesn't think that's better than his supporting cast in Orlando is delusional.

 

howard or tank. josh smith or gasol will wipe out all the good morey has done so far this offseason.

btw lowry trade was a BRILLIANT trade.

Remember when we got all excited about getting two high lottery picks from the Knicks?

I was just directing a little frustration at the Rockets rinse, repeat cycle. Nothing being heard from them is for the first time. From selling superstar potential on young players who aren't projected to be franchise guys, to chasing that star through trade, etc...

 

Wait, so does the Rockets get ALL these 1st round picks (2013-17) or do we only get one (2013) and if the pick is unsuccessful (not within restrictions) then we get the others (2014 pick top 2 protected, 2015 top 2 protected, 2016 pick top 1 protected, etc.)?

 

Correct. Its only one pick. Just guaranteed to be a lottery pick in this timeframe. So if Toronto makes the playoffs next year in continues on till the next year, and the next, etc.

 

Now a possible 4th team -- whopper trade if so

 

Stern would help put together a 10 team deal if that is what it took.

 

Only 1 of Stern's 30 bosses owns the Nets.

 

But they all get rich off the television deals that are going to get struck based on these super teams in Miami, New York (brook) and LA.

 

Wonder if its the Rockets.
