    What? Of course it matters other players in the league seeing you lowballing him.

    They could only offer the MLE, so it didn't really matter at all.

    "We are going to keep going after Free agents, no one should give a crap"

    "We are going to continue to be thrilled to lose them if the numbers get too high"

    The problem is in the orgs numbers....they UNDERVALUE too often.

    Gortat is a good example.

    It matters in that they continually undervalue talent, and are unable to extrapolate out correctly how good a player will be and offer a reasonable contract.

    Because players around the league see the Rockets as cheap - because - well they are....

    Again, the MLE was literally the most they could possibly offer Gortat. Whether they valued him more than that is irrelevant.

    Now, they are offering Asik $8 million per year. Do you think that's a "cheap" contract?
