That's right. Some of us, even if native Houstonians, live in dens of iniquity like Austin. Austin, for god's sake!! A country unto itself. :-O-

    Austin suburbs are staunchly conservative

in its core, a bunch of lazy state government employees, pot smoking college students and other degenerates will yield some blue votes for sure

To answer your question, a few reasons

-- younger people tend to follow basketball and post on message boards, and younger people tend to skew liberal
-- the city of Houston is not conservative (~70% minority). The metro area (MSA) is still conservative
-- basketball appeals to African Americans, who overwhelmingly vote liberal

and when people call conservatives a bunch of uneducated racist backwards pick-up driving fat gun-toting jingoistic fools who yield some red votes, you feel ok with that? Or are you just trolling again?

Nobody is pro-abortion. That's a nice Fox News trick there, chump--err brah, whatever you say.

Abortion is horrible either way, but there are those of us that believe women are capable of making decisions about their bodies.

Texas is too big and diverse a state to be wholly one ideology or another, or for "every other online sports forum you've seen in Texas" to be an accurate sampling.

    This is the correct answer.

Thread should have ended after that post considering what it has devolved into.

#1 Houston is less conservative than you think. Who was the last Republican mayor?

#2 Demographics change, will not be surprised if Texas is a toss up state in 10-15 years.

I don't post much on the D&D, but I do seem to notice most of the few conservative posters are extremely trollish and generally adds nothing valuable to discussions. If I were a conservative I simply wouldn't post in order to not associate with these people.
