In an interview, Andrei Vatutin confirmed that Alexey Shved will leave CSKA Moscow for the NBA.
"I can say that Alexey Shved will go to the NBA. There are just few details to finalize. Alexey will leave for the States in the summer. It is not a matter of money but the guy wants to see if he can play in the strongest league in the world. In my opinion it is still to early for him, but his agent the player think that this is the best solution for him. It is their decision" said Vatutin.

In-demand point guard Alexey Shved will decide which NBA team to sign with on basis of potential court time, he told R-Sport in a recent interview.

The Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves have all offered contracts to the CSKA Moscow player, his agent Obrad Fimic told R-Sport on Tuesday.

“More than anything, I want to play,” Shved said, when aske

The Rockets aren't one of the teams mentioned in this later article, but their name has been thrown in there, and he wants playing time. The Rockets are currently on first-come, first-served basis with their PG minutes.

Once we are able to clear Scola or Martin off the cap, or once NY matches the Lin offer sheet, we should have the space to sign this guy. But this is one of those situations where I completely trust our foreign scouting. If this guy is worth having, we'll be pushing hard to get him.

Watching Shved play, it’s tough not to be enamored with the terrific talent he displays, particularly his ability to play the pick-and-roll and operate in the open floor. He’s got great size for either backcourt position at 6-5 and is an extremely fluid, creative player with the ability to create his own shot, which is rare for a European prospect. He has all the typical tricks you see from Euro-style slashers, relying heavily on timing, pace, change of speed and herky-jerky shakes and crossovers to get his man off balance, but he also has an extra gear he can go to to get by his man using either hand, particularly in transition.

In this regard, his style of play is very similar to the way Goran Dragic played for Phoenix this season. Shved is an even better passer, though. He instinctively makes smart, simple passes within the flow of the offense, but he can also wow you at times with his imagination and his ability to thread the needle and find the open man diving to the rim for an easy basket.

Shved has the ability to create shots for himself and his teammates, and he’s capable of finishing lobs and transition plays above the rim, but he simply isn’t strong enough to finish around the basket in traffic. Shved’s frame is narrow and it hasn’t seemed to improve much over the last few years. This creates a major problem for him because of the extremely physical league he plays in—the Russian league is one of the slowest-paced, most half-court oriented leagues in Europe.

Shved’s lack of physicality forces him to rely on his jump shot a bit more heavily than you’d like, particularly in the mid-range area. He does have an effective off-the-dribble jumper, though, and he looks confident in his shot, using excellent shooting mechanics and terrific touch. This is a part of his game that should translate nicely to the NBA. Generally speaking, Shved has a pretty American-style game

Well, I saw him on number occasions this season playing for CSKA Moscow. He improved everything in his game, he looks stronger, more confident, imrpoved his shot selection and decision making and his 3pt shot accuracy dramaticly increased from below 30% to 50%(33/67 in Euroleague). He is a dead eye shooter. His ability to play P&R and create shot for others is also great. Basically he is a rich man's Rudy Fernandez with better ball handling and ability to run a team's offence. He would have problem defending stronger SGs in this league, so I only see him mostly playing PG as he has quickness and foot speed to keep in front of elite league point guards. You could call me crazy, but in my humble opinion he is a better player than Jeremy Lin, maybe it's because I'm super low on Lin, or maybe not. Don't know why he is overlooked by NBA GM's, but he stated that he is moving to the NBA next season, so we will see him in the action. Just for the record I'm not russian and I don't even wish Svhed succes, but he is simply the best guard nba-prospect in Europe.

There is no question, if he is better than Lin. But it's not that impressive tha he is better than overrated no defense, volume scorer and turnover prone player.
