I gotta see the video of Peterson pushing the Cop. I have several relatives in Law Enforcement and they will tell you there are some drama queen cops out there.

More proof that Arian is the best back in the league. No way 3 HPD officers with questionable health habits would bring Arian down without a taser.

Adrian Peterson, Vikings star RB, arrested in Houston

    By Marc Sessler

    Published: July 7, 2012 at 01:40 p.m. Updated: July 7, 2012 at 08:10 p.m

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was arrested early Saturday at a Houston nightclub on a charge of resisting arrest, a spokesperson at the Houston Police Department told NFL.com and NFL Network.

Peterson was arrested around 2:30 a.m. CDT. He spent the night in jail and was released on a $1,000 bond at 10:14 a.m.

HPD spokesman Kese Smith said Peterson allegedly pushed an off-duty police officer who was working security at Live! at Bayou Place.

As the off-duty officer cycled through the bar at closing time, he asked Peterson and his group of friends to leave, according to Smith. When the officer returned, Peterson told him "I heard you the first time," and pushed the officer in the shoulder, causing him to stumble.

The officer asked the Vikings running back to turn and place his hands behind his back. Peterson refused, according to Smith.

As the officer attempted to place Peterson in handcuffs, the running back pulled away, began shouting and assumed an aggressive stance. A second off-duty officer approached, according to Smith, but Peterson continued to resist arrest. When a third off-duty officer arrived, Peterson was handcuffed and taken to jail. At the station, Peterson complained of shortness of breath, but Smith said he checked out OK.

Peterson was not subject to a toxicology examination and officers didn't note if he appeared drunk or impaired, Smith said.

Live! at Bayou Place general manager Daniel Maher told a different story to TMZ.com. Maher said Peterson appeared heavily intoxicated at the time of the arrest, which he said was out of character for the player, who had been to the club before.

Maher characterized Peterson as a "difficult customer all night" who was "throwing his ego around and making people mad" until he was shuttled off to the VIP area.

At closing time, according to Maher, Peterson rushed to the bar to order a final drink. When Peterson was denied, Maher said he "tried to intimidate the bartender" into selling him one. Maher attempted to intervene, but was unsuccessful. That's when the off-duty officer stepped in.

When Peterson assumed a fighting position, he looked "like he meant business," Maher said. "He looked really scary and I thought he was gonna attack the cops."

A source with knowledge of the situation told ProFootballTalk.com the incident was captured on one or more surveillance cameras inside the club.

Peterson is slated to appear before a judge in Harris County on Friday, July 13.

"We are aware of the situation," the Vikings said in a statement. "We will withhold further comment until more information is known."

Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder was shocked when he heard of Peterson's arrest, according to Dan Wiederer of The Star Tribune.

"He's one of our biggest leaders," Ponder said. "Adrian is a great guy. Maybe it was one bad decision he made. Who knows? He won't be a distraction at all."

Peterson, 27, has spent this offseason working his way back from the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered on Dec. 24. The sixth-year pro has spoken repeatedly of a Week 1 return to the field.

In five seasons, Peterson has totaled 6,752 yards and 64 touchdowns on the ground for the Vikings, who signed him to a seven-year, $96 million deal in 2011.

NFL.com's Eric Kelsey, Jonathan Raber and Matt Wilhalme contributed to this report.

Sounds like b.s. to me. Its hard to believe somebody who has never been in trouble with the law actually pushed a cop while with his family. I have to see it to believe it.

Hopefully the video tells a definitive story. If AD was so drunk that he was hostile to the officers, he deserved to be arrested. Shame on him. If the video proves the cops were out of line, they should be disciplined appropriately.

Although there's conflicting reports about it, if AP was drunk then it's no stretch of the imagination.

so, it seems you didnt read the whole article, because it says that the owner of the nightclub story was first reported in TMZ, and a writer took it (and linked to the TMZ article) and put it there.

and here it is the articles from TMZ about it:

    http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/07/adrian-peterson-arrested-drunk/

    ADRIAN PETERSON ARREST
    Club Says He Was WASTED
EXCLUSIVEAdrian Peterson was heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest, which was very out of character for the NFL star ... this according to the club where he was busted early this morning.

Daniel Maher, general manager of Live at Bayou Place, tells TMZ that Peterson has been to the club before, but he has never known him to drink much. Last night, however, Maher said Peterson was ver drunk and was a difficult customer all night.

Maher says Peterson was throwing his ego around and making people mad, so they put him in the VIP area. Maher says when the club was closing, he rushed over to the bar to try and order one last drink and when he wouldn't Maher says Peterson "tried to intimidate the bartender" into selling it to him.

According to Maher, that's when he intervened, but Peterson continued to be "unreasonable." That's when Maher says the off-duty cop intervened, and, as TMZ first reported, Peterson proceeded to shove him.

Maher says during his confrontation with the officer, Peterson assumed a fight stance and looked "like he meant business." Maher says, "He looked really scary and I thought he was gonna attack the cops."

Maher says that once the officers subdued Peterson, the NFL star apologized for his behavior and told cops he doesn't usually drink.

Peterson was eventually booked into jail and charged with resisting arrest.

Calls to Peterson's rep were not returned.

    ADRIAN PETERSON
    Cops Say He Shoved
    Off-Duty Officer

NFL star Adrian Peterson shoved an off-duty police officer in a Houston bar this morning and that's what lead to his arrest ... the Houston Police Department tells TMZ.

Kese Smith, the PIO for the Houston PD, tells TMZ an off-duty police officer was working security for the club Live! at Bayou Place when closing time approached and he told various patrons it was time to leave.

Smith says the officer had to come back and tell Peterson a second time that he needed to leave and Peterson shot back, "Hey man, we heard you the first time!" and pushed the officer in the back of his shoulder, causing him to stumble.

Smith says the officer then told Peterson to turn around and put his arms behind his back because he was under arrest and Peterson began yelling at the officer. Smith says the officer repeated himself and that's when Peterson turned around to face the officer and got in "an aggressive stance."

Smith says a second off-duty cop came over to assist, but Peterson continued to resist, ignoring several verbal warnings.

A third officer then rushed over, Smith says, and they were finally able to arrest him and take him to jail.

He'd have been in and out after the first incident (the initial shove) he would have just listened to the officers. No matter who you are, you still obey the same laws as everyone else. Typical pro athlete thinking he's above it.

Exactly. Dude was probably drunk, didn't get his way and started acting like a child when he couldn't get what he wanted. So many of these athletes have their asses kissed for so long they don't know how to react when they are told no

He should be treated like royalty (and probably had been all night) while he is in the club. Seriously. Club owners pay celebrities money to make appearances. It strengthens the image of the club. I guarantee you the club management would have let Adrian do whatever he wanted and probably sucked up to him all night.

Who the hell are the cops in this? They're NOT on duty. They're working side jobs FOR THE CLUB, they represent the club, NOT HPD. They're an extension of the club / independent contractors while they're working side jobs.

And what is their ONE ****ing job - the ONE thing they're supposed to do?!!!! PREVENT CONFRONTATIONS - not START them!!! Jesus. They are on power trips, they've been beaten into some strange state of fear and anger by their daily duties and are forced to react based on their previous encounters. They act and react so quickly that they don't think about what they're doing. They just act. These are regular guys man, regular guys carrying guns, not some all-knowing, do-gooders.

They should have let AP do what he wanted. Avoided the confrontation. And held their employers' (the club) best interest at hand.

What's the worst case scenario if AP gets a little special treatment? An autograph and a handshake. What's the worst? Confrontation. The bottom line here is the cops could have avoided the situation. Instead they egged it on. Yes some of the onus is on AP, but the cops should know better, it's their God damn job to know better. AP's job is to get my fantasy team wins.

Now people think the club might be dangerous. Celebs assume they wont get special treatment if they show up (they should) - ultimately the club's reputation could be damaged.

Celebrities get and deserve to get special treatment at clubs. That's how it is whether you like it or not. You're a regular, everyday guy like me, we're not going to get our assess kissed, deal with it man.

    No.

Clubs hire off-duty cops for this exact reason. Cops don't magically stop being cops when they're off duty.

I think your priorities are screwed up when you're defending a drunk/entitled celebrity athlete over a cop who was completely within his rights to arrest a drunken bar patron. If cops got a little more respect then just maybe they wouldn't get angry when entitled jerks try and swindle their way out of things. The cops don't have to lick AP's balls like you do; in fact I'd be even more offended if they did give him special treatment.

Yeah, you're looking at it from the typical regular guy's eyes. The guy who gets butt-hurt when other people get attention. Sorry. If I'm a club owner you're damn right I'm all over AP's balls. Ultimately it generates buzz for my venue. Free marketing.

If a club owner wants to indulge AP: give him free bottle service, VIP rooms and the whole nine then he's more than welcome to. That's none of my business. Let's not confuse VIP treatment with being above the law. If you get drunk and shove a cop at a bar, no club owner should take your side.

As a club owner I'd be leery about protecting a celebrity from police action.

If the club owner didn't want the cops doing what they did, he wouldn't have hired them. It's as simple as that.

Would you go to a place where celebrities throws his ego around and make other regular people mad? sometimes you hear bartenders and waiters complaining about the attitude of the celebrities to them, about the celebrities leaving a cheap tip, yelling at everybody that works there? So you think thats ok, and the owner should allow that?

In other example, why Tony Parker didnt get paid by the club, when he was hurt there? by your post, the owner should give anything that the celebrities want, including paying for his eye operation for something that happened in his club?

Also in the AP case read this part of the article:

Daniel Maher, general manager of Live at Bayou Place, tells TMZ that Peterson has been to the club before, but he has never known him to drink much. Last night, however, Maher said Peterson was very drunk and was a difficult customer all night.

Do you think the owner should allow AP being rude to the bartender, and should said to the off-duty cop to not intervene because he was a celebrity?

Why, yes of course. Adrian Peterson is a football star. #1 fantasy football option. He is above the laws of normal citizens.

Celebrities are entitled to whatever they want. We should be slobbering all over them and appeasing them. Who do these cops think they are, arresting a belligerent drunk man at a club?

The better question is why was he at that horrible club? Live at bayou place. That place sucks ass. I know the nightlife in Houston isn't all that great in general, but there are better places to go.

Do people really go to a club just because a celeb is there? I've seen athletes roaming around town but never purposely checked twitter/facebook etc to see where they are at.

If I got text saying "hey Adrian Peterson is at bayou place!!!" I merely would just reply with "okay"

Strange concept to me except for women/gold-diggers well than that makes sense.

It seems like AP got a little drunk and a little feisty and got a arrested. There's probably a dozen people like that got arrested Saturday night on Washington/Midtown....
