They're done with their seasons now, but Cartoon Network's DC Hour was awesome.

I'm not a fan of CGI cartoon series because it usually looks like crap due to budgets compared to movie production CGI, but Green Lantern was a good show. I tried one episode, and I got hooked.

Right after Green Lantern, Young Justice came on. This show is awesome. It's like a modernized Batman The Animated Series. The plots are great, and the storytelling is awesome.

In between Green Lantern and Young Justice, they had these cartoon shorts that themed around DC comic characters. MadTV did one, claymation in the Wallace and Grommit style, cooky anime style for teen titans. Some of these are good. Teen Titans featured the voices of the original cartoon in the 2000s. I think they are actually going to make the short into a full cartoon show next season.

I capped off the morning cartoon run with Avatar: The Legend of Korra. IMO, the best cartoon out right now. Young Justice is a close second.

Before the DC hour, the new Thundercats came on. This was a good show, too. I don't think it got renewed for another season, which is a shame. But they did have too many filler episodes that did not advance the plot. Can't have that this early in your existence.

I had Ultimate Spider-Man in the rotation, too, but that show sucks. Too kiddie. Too many breakings of the fourth wall that made the episode seem choppy. It was like stop, go, stop, go, stop, go. Just felt annoying. I stopped watching this one. Spectacular Spider-Man should have never been replaced by this garbage. That was a good cartoon.

The reruns might still be in syndication at their respective time slots, so you still might be able to start watching these. It looked like this:

    8:30 - Thundercats
    9:00 - Green Lantern (CGI)
    9:30 - Young Justice
10:00 - Avatar: The Legend of Korra

There are new cartoon shows coming up as well. CGI versions of Batman and Ninja Turtles are coming. The Batman CGI will be added to the DC lineup of Cartoon Network. I'm skeptical, but Green Lantern gives me hope that these shows can still be good despite my undesired taste for TV production CGI.

The new Looney Tunes show is awesome as well. The modern animation and format of the show has translated well IMO. The humor is also modernized, but it still has the feel of Looney Tunes.

I watch too many cartoons, but they keep me grounded and make me feel that work isnt everything. I appreciate and enjoy the artwork as well. Combine that with a truly great plot that all ages can enjoy, and I'm a 28 year old kid at least every Saturday morning.

Get a refrigerator box, cut out a square in the front like a TV, get in, and you can make live action cartoons for your kids all you want.lol ;)

the 24 hour cartoon network and that mandate telling networks a certain amount of TV needs to be educational, killed saturday morning cartoons. You can find some good stuff sprinkled about during the week might as well DVR it and watch it all on saturday.

Everything Clutch Citizen said is correct except about Korra being better than Young Justice; The animation of Korra is better but not the plot.

    Motorcity
    Tron Legacy
Avengers: EMH (cancelled but still the best super hero show since xmen and justice league)
Phineas and Ferb (smartest children's cartoon on television)

    are also worth a watch.

I think I like Avatar more because of how well the first Avatar did. Sequels usually don't do well because of the high expectations set by the original material. The Avatar team did great with this one. The storytelling feels like a movie.

Young Justice is great. I actually like their animation style better than Avatar. I haven't given Avengers a chance. I saw the first couple of episodes and was not hooked. I hear it gets better, though. Maybe I should give it another shot, especially since it's on Netflix.

I also agree with everyone that Phineas and Ferb is on another level when it comes to kid shows. It's my go to show when I have toddler cousins over.

Cartoons have never been better, IMO. You just need to look around. DVR, streaming services like Netflix, etc. And there's really no such thing as 'Saturday Morning Cartoons' with the above services. You can watch the best at any time.

    Current greats:
    Thundercats
    Tron Uprising
    Anything DC
the New Avatar (whatever it's called)

    Recents that are over now:
    Avengers
    Avatar

These are just a few off of the top of my head.

And if you think the 'oldies' are great, as I said earlier, streaming services have most of them. We watched Thundarr and Godzilla recently. They suck but it's classic Hannah-Barberra.

Sunday morning cartoons used to be alright too on the local stations. Or they felt that much more gratifying when you didnt have to go to church lol. A few cartoons, a little playtime or some Nintendo, then some Oilers football, those were the days.

DVR must be religious families saving grace. There's no more kids HAVING to watch the Sunday cartoons LIVE. Kids will never "miss" a show.

I'm definitely more Boomerang than Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. But I think cartoons are better, too. Some toons now are a little too cynical and brooding and "dark", but got to go there to be fresher & less cheesy
